Innovation: the iNova
What do Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blog,
YouTube, eNotes and Orchestra Nova all
have in common? Put the words together in
a sentence and it may sound like a foreign
language. However, each one of these,
from Facebook to Orchestra Nova, brings
people together from around the world —
languages really don’t matter so much. The
real commonality comes in the connection.
Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are called
the leading people connectors of this day
and age. A blog is a great way to share
your opinions and hear what others have
to say. An online eNotes subscription
alerts subscribers to the hot new stories
and promotions of the day. And Orchestra
Nova has them all! You can connect to us
through any or all of them.
Our goal is to connect with you and
San Diego in the most accessible and
technologically savvy style that’s possible.

Nova Cares
A major focus for Orchestra Nova this
season is CONNECTION — a connection
between friends, fans, guests, musicians,
the Nova staff and, most importantly, with
the San Diego community.
As an organization with several “homes”
throughout San Diego, Orchestra Nova has
a unique opportunity to connect with a
number of different communities in a way
that reflects its value of and care for the
people within those communities.
Causes in concert
Reaching beyond the concert hall to
help worthwhile nonprofits, Orchestra
Nova is offering complimentary tickets to
nonprofits as a fundraiser for their unique
causes, partnering with the American
Cancer Society, Helen Woodward
Animal Center, Volunteer San Diego,
Father Joe’s Village, The New Children’s

Museum and Rady Children’s Hospital-
San Diego.. Nonprofit organizations
interested in participating as partners are
asked to call Orchestra Nova’s office for
more information.
During the 2008-2009 season, Orchestra
Nova donated hundreds of concert tickets
to over 100 nonprofit organizations.
Celebrating professions
Recognizing that social connection is
important too, a different industry or
organization will be highlighted for
each concert, with a special invitation to
members of the industry to meet, mingle
and share an Orchestra Nova experience
through a special promotion.
September is logically the best month for
a celebration of teachers, especially since
education plays such an important role in
Paige Satter, artistic administrator and education/outreach coordinator, Orchestra Nova;
community arts volunteer, former tuba player
of Orchestra Nova San Diego. Building
upon its rich tradition of beautiful music
and phenomenal entertainment, Orchestra
Nova seeks to engage all San Diegans in
their latest programs, performances and
community outreach initiatives.
