Historic Bowman Field, home <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Crosscutters, opened in 1926 and<br />

stands as <strong>the</strong> second-oldest minor league<br />

stadium operating in <strong>the</strong> United States.<br />

The stadium has undergone over $3<br />

million in renovations in <strong>the</strong> last decade,<br />

yet still retains <strong>the</strong> old-time charm that<br />

is impossible to duplicate.<br />

The Crosscutters are a minor-league<br />

Shikellamy State Park is in Union and<br />

Northumberland Counties. The 78-acre<br />

Shikellamy overlook section is on <strong>the</strong> western<br />

shore <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Susquehanna River and<br />

overlooks <strong>the</strong> confluence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West<br />

and North Branches <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> river. The<br />

54-acre Shikellamy Marina section is in<br />

Northumberland County, between <strong>the</strong><br />

Borough <strong>of</strong> Northumberland and <strong>the</strong> City<br />

<strong>of</strong> Sunbury, on <strong>the</strong> sou<strong>the</strong>rn tip <strong>of</strong> Packer’s<br />

Island, at <strong>the</strong> confluence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West and<br />

North Branches <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Susquehanna River.<br />

Sand Bridge State Park <strong>of</strong>fers Rapid<br />

Run’s lovely murmur and <strong>the</strong> sounds <strong>of</strong><br />

birds in this lovely picnic spot. The three<br />

rustic picnic pavilions hug <strong>the</strong> side <strong>of</strong><br />

Seven Notch Mountain, conveniently<br />

located at <strong>the</strong> side <strong>of</strong> Route PA 192.<br />

R.B. Winter State Park lies in a narrow<br />

valley 1500 feet above sea level, surrounded<br />

by oak <strong>for</strong>ests on steep mountain<br />

ridges. A spring-fed mountain stream flows<br />

through <strong>the</strong> valley, overshadowed by large<br />

second-growth pine and hemlock trees,<br />

Utilities, Inc. The 165-acre Lake<br />

preserve, was developed to provide a backup<br />

reservoir <strong>of</strong> cooling water <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> 1.5million<br />

kilowatt power plant. The lake<br />

now <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> educational and<br />

recreational opportunities. Montour<br />

Preserve <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> outdoor activities<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> year. Forests, fields,<br />

ponds and streams provide opportunities<br />

<strong>for</strong> birding, nature study, photography and<br />

watching wildlife. Hiking, fishing and picnicing<br />

are also popular pastimes at <strong>the</strong> preserve.<br />

A multi-sensory Braille trail provides<br />

sight-impaired visitors an opportunity to<br />

enjoy <strong>the</strong> outdoors. Exhibits and displays<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Visitors Center focus on wildlife,<br />

Indian culture and land management.<br />
