second most popular tourist attraction
in Lycoming County!
Historic Bowman Field, home of the
Crosscutters, opened in 1926 and
stands as the second-oldest minor league
stadium operating in the United States.
The stadium has undergone over $3
million in renovations in the last decade,
yet still retains the old-time charm that
is impossible to duplicate.
The Crosscutters are a minor-league
affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates and
captured the New York-Penn League
Championship in 2001and 2003.
State Parks

recreational guide which includes general

Shikellamy State Park is in Union and
Northumberland Counties. The 78-acre
Shikellamy overlook section is on the western
shore of the Susquehanna River and
overlooks the confluence of the West
and North Branches of the river. The
54-acre Shikellamy Marina section is in
Northumberland County, between the
Borough of Northumberland and the City
of Sunbury, on the southern tip of Packer’s
Island, at the confluence of the West and
North Branches of the Susquehanna River.
Sand Bridge State Park offers Rapid
Run’s lovely murmur and the sounds of
birds in this lovely picnic spot. The three
rustic picnic pavilions hug the side of
Seven Notch Mountain, conveniently
located at the side of Route PA 192.
R.B. Winter State Park lies in a narrow
valley 1500 feet above sea level, surrounded
by oak forests on steep mountain
ridges. A spring-fed mountain stream flows
through the valley, overshadowed by large
second-growth pine and hemlock trees,

located in the Ridge and Valley Province.
The land is divided by long ridges that are
500 feet higher than the valleys.
Montour Preserve is operated by PPL
Utilities, Inc. The 165-acre Lake
Chillisquaque located at the center of the
preserve, was developed to provide a backup
reservoir of cooling water for the 1.5million
kilowatt power plant. The lake
now offers a variety of educational and
recreational opportunities. Montour
Preserve offers a variety of outdoor activities
throughout the year. Forests, fields,
ponds and streams provide opportunities
for birding, nature study, photography and
watching wildlife. Hiking, fishing and picnicing
are also popular pastimes at the preserve.
A multi-sensory Braille trail provides
sight-impaired visitors an opportunity to
enjoy the outdoors. Exhibits and displays
in the Visitors Center focus on wildlife,
Indian culture and land management.
