1. Boat Types of KUHNLE-TOURS 

As a German company we offer the best boating holidays in Germany, Poland and 

France. KUHNLE-TOURS has a fleet of over 130 boats at eight locations. Below you 

will find a detailed description about our different boat types. Information about the 

technical details you will find at the end of this manual. 

1.1. Which boat for which crew

Primus-Kormoran 

The best and most beautiful Kormoran. We often hear that Kormoran-boats are the 

most beautiful charter boats in Europe. They are very easy to manoeuvre and offer 

very high levels of comfort with 1.95 m headroom in all parts of the boat. The 

traditional form fits well into the old canals and rivers around Europe and they offer a 

great contrast to the usual charter boats. The primus–class are boats of our new 

generation, the comfortable steel-displacement boats were specially designed for 

KUHNLE-TOURS and are now being built on the Kuhnle-Shipyard at the Mueritz 

(Mecklenburg Lakes). They offer following equipments:

Haines 

Besides the Haines 1070 (two cabins) we will offer the Haines 1190 in Germany in 

2013. The new boat has three cabins and can accommodate six persons, plus two 

additional berths in the saloon. The Haines model is made of glass fibre reinforced 

plastic (GRP).

Kormoran 

The traditional form fits well into the old canals and rivers around Europe and they 

offer a great contrast to the usual charter boats. All Kormorans have two steering 

positions: one on the large sun deck; one in the salon.

The vetus boats have a more modern appearance and are great fun to cruise, with a 

large sun deck and second steering position. With bow and stern props and the 

streamlined underwater body, these boats are easy to manoeuvre.

Dutch steel motor-yacht 

The Gruno 38 Royal (4+2) is a Dutch motoryacht with an exterior steering 

position under cover with solar sail, ideal for two couples and families, stern 

cabin with double bed, bow cabin with two single berths, two bathrooms 

(bow cabin with en-suite bathroom but without shower), stern cabin 

bathroom with shower, saloon midship, bathing platform with small 

swimming ladder and outdoor shower (warm and cold water), shore power.


The Gruno 33 Sport (2+3) is a one-cabin version. Both boats can be 

chartered only at Hafendorf Müritz. 

NEW: Febomobil 870 (3+2) – Feeling like being in a holiday apartment on 

water, but flexible

Due to a draught of 60 - 70 cm, our budget class boats Tjonger, Galle, Kuinder and 

Welle are particularly suitable for the Mecklenburg and Brandenburg Lakes.

1.2. Sailing yachts and sailing dinghies 

All our yachts are well equipped and ideal for a cruise on the Lakes of Mecklenburg- 

Western Pomerania. You can book the following sailing yachts: First 210, First 235, 

Bavaria 34 and sailing boats of the type Jolly-Skip. 

1.3. Other boats 

The smaller motorboats can be rented from the charter bases in Germany Hafendorf 

Müritz and Granzow (Minimarina Ferienpark Mirow) as well as in Niderviller in 

France. In Germany we also offer daycruiser with more than 50 PS so you need a 

driving licence, if you are required in your home country to have a licence to drive a 

boat. All other boats are licence free. All bases also have canoes and rowing boats 

for rent.

Base Hafendorf Müritz 

Our largest base and headquarter of KUHNLE-TOURS lies in Hafendorf Müritz. This 

fully-serviced harbour is a gateway to the amazing Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. 

The office location, at the south-east shore of the Müritz, is ideal for shorter or longer 

trips on the lakes of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. If you are required in your 

home country to have a licence to drive a boat then the same applies in Germany.


But there are some areas where a licence is not required. Then you will receive a 

three-hour briefing in theory and practice.

Highway Berlin Hamburg A 24, at motorway junction Wittstock/Dosse A19 towards 

Rostock until exit Röbel, B 198 towards Neustrelitz. Approx. 20 km after passing of

But also daycruisers, canoes and rowing boats. 

Finally some remarks about the wind on Lake Müritz: it comes mainly from a westerly 

direction, blowing fairly constantly until late afternoon and then mostly stagnating. In 

the evening the wind mostly will brush up again – the so-called bringing-you-homebreeze. 

The east wind is known to blow until the morning, then die down and brush 

up again in the late afternoon. The waves on Lake Müritz can be very high due to the 

shallows in the middle of the lake – especially when the wind reaches beaufort five


and higher. The lake should then be navigated with care. Customers who have no 

sport boat driving licence are not allowed to drive across Lake Müritz when the wind 

blows with beaufort four or higher. We can make exceptions - depending on the 

weather conditions - for routes towards the south, e.g. into the lake Kleine Müritz and 

its continuative canals, so that Lake Müritz only has to be crossed for a short 

distance. 

Granzow (Minimarina Ferienpark Mirow) 

This small base at the holiday park of Mirow is very secluded and safe and therefore 

ideal for day cruisers and smaller boats, like canoes, pedal and rowing boats. NEW. 

We offer two houseboats from Granzow (Minimarina Ferienpark Mirow): Febomobil 

870 and bellus 750.

Zeuthen 

Here you are close to the German capital. Be sure to ask our staff; they know the 

area very well and could give you some special tips. In fact they will tell you that the 

possibilities from the base are endless. 

The skipper will bring you into the boating licence free area for bookings with more 

than three days.

Landscape 

With the lively canals of the capital and the various lakes and romantic channels 

along the Berlin waterways, the landscapes of this area are diverse. The lower part of 

the Havel (called Untere Havel) flows through the scenic agricultural fields around 

Werder. In addition to all this great nature, you should not miss the highlight of the 

trip in this area: a cruise along the waterways through the centre of the German 

capital, Berlin. 

Right through Berlin 

There is no better way to discover the united Berlin than aboard a boat. The 183 km 

of city canals and rivers offer a wonderful opportunity to discover the unique appeal 

of the different parts of town. In total there are twelve waterways, all connected with 

the surrounding canals, rivers and lakes of Brandenburg. Look at a map of these 

waterways and you will notice it’s easier to understand than a regular map of the 

capital, and the waterways are easier to use than the underground, trams and 

busses! In which other capital could you cruise past government offices in a boat? 

The famous Reichstag, the Bundeskanzleramt (where our chancellor spends some of 

her time), the gorgeous Nikolaiviertel (best visited when hungry) and the 

Museumsinsel - island of museums - all have river or canal frontage and offer great 

viewing from the comfort of your oat. The city has built various mooring facilities


where boats can stay for up to 24 hours. There are also several good marina sin the 

suburbs.

2.1.3. Lake Schwerin and Müritz-Elde-Waterway 

The entire estuary from Schwerin is motorboat licence free until Dömitz, Schwerin 

und Liebenwalde however you will receive a three-hour briefing in theory and practice 

before starting. 

Schwerin 

Our new base is situated close to the city of Schwerin. The waterways which are 

accessible from Schwerin are designed by colours: yellow rape fields, green grass 

and woods and red brick houses. Not to be forgotten: the blue belt of Mecklenburg 

the Müritz-Elde-Waterway. The silent nature will debauch the clients after the arrival 

and embarkation of the boat into the holidays.

The island of Rügen is known by various nicknames; the 'Riviera of the North‘ or the 

'Channel coast of the East’. The seemingly endless white beaches, the imperial baths 

with their great architecture of the late 19th century and the white cliffs are all located 

on one side of the island. On the other side, the interior waterways called 'Bodden‘ 

provide peaceful boating areas with a wide variety of attractions; quiet bays and 

beaches, little fishing villages with well-equipped harbours, smaller and bigger islands, 

nature parks and the big cities of the 'Hanse‘ with numerous attractions to explore. 

This region gives boaters plenty of possibilities and our well-equipped base in 

Stralsund is right in the centre. 

For boating holidays starting in Stralsund you need a boating licence. For boats 

which are longer than 12 metres you need a Long Range or Short Range Certificate.

In France all houseboats are boating licence free. One exception is the German river 

Mosel and the oneway Sierck-les-Bains to Niderviller via Saarbrücken. Here you 

need a boating drivers licence, if you need one in your home country.

Destination: 

Expansive grain-fields, woods with plenty of game, vineyards, picturesque villages 

and a number of reservoirs and lakes characterize this area. In two nature parks you 

will find vegetation not generally expected in this area: carnivorous plants, 

capercaillie on the higher grounds and lynx in the woods. But the main attraction of a 

boating holiday in the Alsace-Lorraine lies in the historic water buildings and 

structures. A number of manual and electric locks, several tunnels, the huge lock of 

Réchicourt and the boat-lift of St. Louis-Arzviller are among other awesome 

structures present. 

The main waterways Canal de la Marne au Rhin, Canal de l’Est, Mosel(le) and Saar-

river Mosel. This base gives you the opportunity to discover the three countries 

France, Germany and Luxembourg and their variety and history. The area of the 

Southern-Wine-Mosel, from Sierck-les-Bains till Trier invites the customer to discover 

the wine and the roman past.

2.2.3. East-Burgundy and Franche-Comté 

Pontailler 

Discover the destination Eastern Burgundy and Franche-Comté. Cruise along the 

river Saône and enjoy the untouched nature. There are wooded hills, green 

meadows and original villages on either side. Follow the canals that flow into the river 

and visit the cities Dijon (Canal de Bourgogne), Dôle (Canal du Rhône au Rhin) or 

Langres (Canal de Champagne á Bourgogne).

Destination: 

A unique possibility for an extended cruise on rivers and canals offers the destination 

Eastern Burgundy and Franche-Comté. Due to its geographic location the Saône has 

long been an important waterway from Mid-Europe to the South. The Saône branch 

(the Petite Saône and the Canal des Vosges) and the Doubs branch (the river 

Doubs and the Rhine-Rhone Canal) come from northern Europe. They converge to 

form a V-shape which sides close to St. Jean de Losne and then leads south towards 

the Rhône and the Med. In the past these rivers stood as dividing lines for the East 

(the Empire) and the West (the Franconian kingdom). This has influenced the culture 

to a great extent and you will still find some extraordinary castles along these 

waterways.

2.3.1. The Mazurian Lakes 

Piaski 

Our base is situated in a harboured bay along Lake Beldahn only a few kilometers 

from the holiday resort Rucianne Nida. Piaski is a good starting point to explore the 

Great Mazurian Lakes. There are only two locks in the whole area of lakes and 

streams, both located in the south and only opening up a few more lakes. So this 

boating area is ideal for people who are not so keen on locks. Since 2011 there is no 

boating licence required for the Great Mazurian Lakes.

a programme exploring the 3000 lakes. The land of a “Thousand Lakes” is a boating 

paradise. Its 25 large lakes linked by canals, rivers and lochs, offer everything a 

boating enthusiast could need. There is something for everyone – boating, fishing, 

hiking, archaeologists’, bird watchers and much more.

2.4. Certificate of Charter 

Whilst on most of the French waterways you can go boating without a boat 

driving licence, Germany has a number of fairly specific rules: 

Rule 1: If you are required in your home country to have a licence to drive a 

boat then the same applies in Germany. i.e. you need a boat driving licence. 

Rule 2: There are some areas where a licence is not needed (regardless of 

whether a licence is required in your home country). Licence free cruising is 

possible from our bases Hafendorf Müritz, Granzow (Minimarina Ferienpark 

Mirow), Schwerin, Marienwerder, Brandenburg (Havel) and Zeuthen. Any 

boat that is in our fleet can be driven in these destinations without a licence. 

Therefore you will get an instruction of three hours. After that you will get a 

certification of charter which allows you to drive our boats for the time of your 

holiday. 

Our bases Zeuthen, Brandenburg (Havel) and Marienwerder are located in a 

“licence required” area (see rule 1). An instructor on board will cruise you to 

the licence free area near by.

3. Other Products of KUHNLE-TOURS 

3.1. Holiday flats in Hafendorf Müritz, Granzow, Niderviller and Piaski 

The holiday flats can be booked for days or weeks. Our Hafendorf Müritz is 

a perfect place to stay for boaters and their crews. For those wishing to stay 

ashore we offer five modern holiday apartments for two to six persons on the 

first floor of our marina building. Two apartments have windows out to the 

Marina Müritz. Two further flats offer a view towards lake Müritz (partly 

through skylight). All apartments are equipped with a kitchen (refrigerator, 

sink, cooker, oven and kitchen-inventory), TV, telecommunication access 

and WLAN. 

The spacious holiday flat in Granzow is located in the same building as our 

little marina office and partly on the ground- and on the first floor. The house 

is built on pile and has a thatched roof. You can reach the flat via the flats 

own little footbridge. 

In our Marina Niderviller (Alsace-Lorraine) there are three cosy holiday 

apartments, located on the first floor of our new marina building. All 

apartments are equipped with TV, telecommunication access and WLAN. A 

washing machine and dryer are available in the washing room on the ground 

floor. The marina offers also picnic tables for a meal outside, the large 

apartment offers its own balcony.

3.2. Fishing with the boat – tourist fishing ficence 

For fishing in Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania you need two documents: 

Fischereischein bzw. Touristen-Fischereischein (tourist licence card) 

Angelerlaubnis/Angelkarte (fishing card for the area) 

Price 20 Euro for 4 weeks 

Both are available at our marina office in Schwerin, Hafendorf Müritz and Granzow 

(Minimarina Ferienpark Mirow) 

4. Frequently Asked Questions 

On which days can we charter a boat? 

In the main season on Monday, Friday and Saturday. From/to Hafendorf 

Müritz also Thursday and Sunday. 

In the low season (April - October) it depends on availability. For Kormoran 

1100 S and vetus 900 daily embarkation is possible (condition: the duration 

of the charter is no less than 3 days). 

How long do we have to charter a boat? 

In addition to the weekly charter (Mon-Mon, Fri-Fri and Sat-Sat), we offer 

mini-weeks (Mon-Fri) and weekends (Fri-Mon), super mini-weeks (Mon- 

Thurs) and XXL weekends (Thurs-Mon). 

At what time can we pick up and drop off the boat? 

Pick up day about 3-5 pm 

Drop off day about 8.30 – 9 am 

Day charter: pick up at 9 am and drop off at 5 pm 

Are there roundtrips? 

Yes! 

Germany: From Zeuthen around Berlin. From Brandenburg (Havel) along 

the river Elbe and the Lower Havel-Waterway. The big roundtrip from the 

base Hafendorf Müritz via Upper Havel-Waterway to Berlin, then via Lower 

Havel-Waterway to the Elbe, Müritz-Elde-Waterway and back to Hafendorf 

Müritz. 

France: Between our bases Niderviller and Sierck-les-Bains via Nancy 

towards Canal de la Marne au Rhin and Moselle or via Saarbrücken towards 

Mosel, Saar, Canal de la Sarre and Canal de la Marne au Rhin. 

Do I get information material and maps? 

When we receive the deposit you get:

details about handling locks, important addresses and telephone

the „Törnplaner“ in German, a book where you can choose your routes, 

with important information about marinas, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. 

or the canal guide for French waterways. 

What happens if we run into any difficulties with the boat?


KUHNLE-TOURS is at your service seven days a week, simply phone our 

24h hotline and we will be happy to help you. 

Will I need special insurance? 

Your boat is fully insured and you are only responsible for any damage up to 

the amount of your security deposit. Alternatively you can opt for additional 

insurance. 

Do you have last minutes offers?

Do we get a briefing locally? 

If you do not have a boating license when you pick up the boat you will be 

obliged to participate in a 3 hours briefing in theory and practise. It starts at 

2:30 pm in Germany only. In France and Poland you will get a short 

introduction in the technical details when you get on the boat. 

Do I need to bring my own bed sheets and dishes? 

Our exclusive boats (Aquino, Primus-Kormoran and Haines) have bedsheets, 

towels etc. on board (see exclusive boat package). All other boats 

are equipped with all necessary dishes. You will find an inventory of onboard 

items in the Capitan’s Manual. You should however bring your own 

towel, cleaning supplies, dish towel. Bookable for all other boats 35 € / 2 

persons, 10€ / additional person (surcharge bed-linen and towels). 

What is in the exclusive boat package included? 

Exclusive boat package includes bed-linen, hand towel and beach towel 

(depending on the number of people), tea towels (2 for each boat, 3- and 4cabin 

boat: 3 for each boat), dishwashing-liquid, sponge cloth, toilet paper 

(one role for each bathroom), hand soap (one for each bathroom). 

Can you take along bikes or hire bikes and how much? 

At every base you can hire bikes. You can take 2 bikes in the smaller boats 

and 4 bikes in the bigger boats. Also you can bring your own bikes. 

How do I get to my car, when I did a one-way trip? 

We offer taxi-transfers with special prices for this. For more information call 

our reservations department. 

How many persons fit in the boat? 

We have boats that comfortably accommodate from 2 to 12 people. 

5. Booking, Option and Travel Agent Commission 

Booking 

You can book by telephone, mail, fax, e-mail or online. Accordingly you 

receive by mail: correspondence, confirmation/invoice in consideration of the 

commission, booking announcement and general terms of hire. 

Within one week the booking announcement has to be signed twice and sent 

back to our office. The deposit is also to be paid within one week.


Final payment four weeks before departure, afterwards you receive your 

clients voucher by mail.
