Boeing Scaneagle uaV, continued
the Scaneagle can be fitted with
either IR or eO type cameras. a
dual bay configured aircraft has an
extra payload bay for nanoSaR (a
synthetic-aperture radar payload)
or custom payloads. Situations are
presented and reported in real time
and the system is capable of more
than 24 hours of flight time. launching
is achieved autonomously
from a catapult system. landing is
achieved through a SkyHook
approach in which the Scaneagle is
captured by the 50-foot-high (fully
extended) retrieval system.
this uaS represents a low-cost
solution to a vital security need.
the Scaneagle was designed
from the outset to be operated
from ocean-going ships, meaning
that the proven catapult and hook
retrieval systems exceed most field
expectations. the diminutive size
also lends in allowing the system to
be stored away aboard ships that
already deal with limited space. First
