The Department of <strong>Education</strong> and Training (DET) seeks to engage <strong>Queensland</strong>ers in lifelong learning by providing<br />

high quality, accessible services to the state's education and training sectors. DET is a diverse organisation with<br />

the largest workforce in the state. We provide services through three broad service delivery areas:<br />

The Office for Early Childhood <strong>Education</strong> and Care leads early childhood development and education policy<br />

and regulates the provision of childcare services.<br />

<strong>Education</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong> Division delivers high quality education to more than 70 percent of all <strong>Queensland</strong><br />

school students at prep, primary and secondary levels.<br />

Training and Tertiary <strong>Education</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong> work with industry to build a world class training and skilling<br />

system to skill <strong>Queensland</strong>ers including the management of 13 TAFE institutes, regulation of the state’s<br />

apprenticeship and traineeship system, regulation of registered training organisations, provision of strategic<br />

direction for the higher education and non-state education sectors and investment in <strong>Queensland</strong>’s training and<br />

skilling system.<br />

Operations Division consists of Information and Technologies Branch, Human Resources Branch, Finance Branch,<br />

Corporate Procurement Branch, Infrastructure Services Branch and Regional Offices which work together to<br />

ensure that the department achieves sustainable investment, better utilisation of assets and resources, increased<br />

organisational productivity and accountability from its investment for both business and education outcomes.<br />

The Finance Branch is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective use of departmental resources. Its<br />

activities encompass the development, monitoring and analysis of the department’s business and operational<br />

performance. It ensures compliance with financial legislation and directives and provision of specific purpose<br />

financial reports. It develops innovative and effective financial approaches to investment and funding<br />

opportunities. It provides operational financial services to the department and ensures that initiatives, innovations<br />

and projects are driven in a consistent and fully integrated way within the State Financial Management Framework.<br />

The Branch consists of three units:<br />

Financial Strategy and Policy, comprising Financial Policy and Service Alignment, Financial<br />

Sustainability and Investment and Financial Analysis and Advice<br />

Budget and Financial Reporting, comprising Financial Performance Reporting, Budget and School<br />

Based Salaries and Non School Financial <strong>Support</strong>, and<br />

Corporate Finance, comprising Financial Operations and School Financial <strong>Support</strong>.<br />

Your opportunity<br />

As the <strong>Manager</strong> you will:<br />

Provide expert operational and functional advice and support to DET across a range of financial management<br />

functions. The role also effectively leads the implementation of systemic priorities and initiatives to achieve<br />

best practice organisational outcomes.<br />

The <strong>Manager</strong>, <strong>SAP</strong> <strong>System</strong> <strong>Support</strong> reports to the Director, Financial Operations.<br />

Your role<br />

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:<br />

Participate in a multi disciplinary professional team, undertake project tasks as required and contribute to<br />

deliverables to support the specific scope and objectives of the unit.<br />

Lead the operations of the User Access and Workflow Management team within the <strong>SAP</strong> <strong>Support</strong> Unit to<br />

support business operations and to deliver functional improvements within the Finance Business Solution.<br />

Provide leadership, complex research, analyse, evaluate and advice on business, systems or technology<br />

requirements and implement recommended solutions to achieve defined objectives and best practices to meet<br />

the Departmental business requirements..<br />

Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of project plans and schedules including the<br />

coordination of activities or teams associated with achieving defined objectives.<br />

Contribute to continuous improvement through providing technical advice to management regarding<br />

operational aspects of <strong>SAP</strong> ECC 5.0.<br />

Prepare submissions, reports, briefs and correspondence for the <strong>Manager</strong> on issues significant to functions of<br />

<strong>SAP</strong> ECC 5.0 and lead processes associated with changes, fixes and technical upgrades to <strong>SAP</strong> ECC 5.0.<br />

Lead and oversee the unit’s responsibilities in managing, prioritising and processing user requests.<br />

Operate and maintain a range of business tools for reference and analysis purposes such as HR Mini Master,<br />

Mini Master Workflow database, security, <strong>SAP</strong> ECC 5.0 and Aurion.<br />

Lead the development of policies, procedures and business rules to internally support the <strong>SAP</strong> Finance<br />

Business Solution as well as the development of instructions, forms, support materials and training programs<br />

for the Department.<br />

Encourage an innovative and dynamic team environment and effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with team<br />

members, Departmental staff and unit stakeholders in relation to unit activities.<br />

Proactively manage HR updates and manage processes that enable an efficient user access management<br />

triggered by Aurion HR updates.<br />

Perform other tasks of an operational, administrative or technical nature as directed by the <strong>Manager</strong>.<br />

management relevant to the operations of the unit outlined above, including the ability to develop strategic<br />

policies and best practice processes associated with <strong>SAP</strong> ECC 5.0<br />

Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills used to undertake complex reviews, recommend and<br />

implement effective innovative solutions, provide high quality client services and continuous improvement.<br />

Proven skills and ability to contribute to strategic projects relating to financial systems and processes,<br />

delivering high quality outcomes within tight timeframes, cost limitations and deadlines.<br />

managing positively, particularly during times of change.<br />

5. Communicates with influence<br />

Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to develop and build successful<br />

relationships, prepare reports, provide advice, effectively liaise and negotiate with staff at all levels in a<br />

demanding and multi disciplinary work environment to effectively deliver unit activities.<br />
