Further property improvements can be expected from each alloy type
(α+β) titanium alloys and
γ-rich titanium aluminide alloys
by refinement of chemical homogeneity, phase distribution and grainand/or
colony size:
Processing on large scale
better liquid uniformity
but less control of chemical homogeneity
and less control of microstructure (uniformity and grain size)
Processing on smaller scales
better temperature control
