Description<br />
In-line commands<br />
Determines <strong>the</strong> type of pronunciation for <strong>the</strong> word immediately following this command.<br />
This command is synchronous.<br />
Use <strong>the</strong> [:pronounce alternate] command to obtain an alternative pronunciation for a<br />
word. See <strong>the</strong> Homograph tables for examples of primary and alternate pronunciations<br />
of words. Using <strong>the</strong> word wind as an example, <strong>the</strong> primary pronunciation is w ’ ihn d,<br />
as in "<strong>the</strong> wind is blowing." The alternate pronunciation, denoted by [:pronounce<br />
alternate] wind, is w ' ayn d, as in "wind up <strong>the</strong> top."<br />
Use <strong>the</strong> [:pronounce name] command to pronounce a word as a proper name. First<br />
names, last names, street names, and place names are all examples of proper names.<br />
