Thirty two past four is all I got,
jokes apart,
a sugar cube silence levitates my palms
cupped with warmth for tea in chinaware,
similar to breast lines, curved, tuned, taut.
Kabir you are right
speech is an endless line on my face
searching beyond the pastel strokes of smoke
to see fish bones stuck in clouds
like airlines flying farthest east in finite loops.
If we are going to talk of hanky whites
drying along with clothing lines
we may as well talk of death
for then death is naïve
it takes detours
forgets to wash its soiled linens.
I keep sinking below the couch
with conundrums made up of thinner lines
that separate light from utter dark
mildly unaware pupils
slide the seasons outside my door
and inside out.
Love is confirmed by forensics to have happened in our sleep
and in spite of a promise
to sing on and on the lines that repeat tracks of a gramophone,
the pin drops a note.
