<strong>It</strong> isn’t difficult to imagine good technology being used<br />

for bad purposes. And what is interesting is that people all<br />

over the world have shown themselves to be remarkably<br />

accepting of intrusions into their personal privacy.<br />

In the interests of national security, it is now common<br />

at airports around the United States for full-body image<br />

detectors to capture nude images of travelers. To be sure,<br />

these images don’t rival Olan Mills for clarity. They’re<br />

virtual photographs. But can you imagine the reaction<br />

a generation ago if a security guard at an airport had<br />

insisted on capturing naked images of travelers? With<br />

the alternative being an invasive, full-body pat down?<br />

How did we get to this place? Think September 11,<br />

2001—the day that changed the world. Preventing<br />

similar terrors is necessarily an extremely high priority<br />

for governments around the world, and Satan, the master<br />

conspirator, knew ahead of time that this would be the case.<br />

While there are obviously very good reasons for this<br />

eroding of individual privacy, Satan correctly calculated<br />

that a worldwide terror alert would lead people to trade<br />

liberty for safety—making it far easier for him to enforce<br />

his plans for Earth’s final days.<br />

And because the last great crisis to come upon the<br />

world will be religious in nature, and focused on<br />

worship, it is no surprise that Satan has thrust offbeat<br />

religious minorities into the world’s spotlight.<br />

The Waco tragedy in 1993 demonstrated that groups<br />

perceived as religious extremists garner very little public<br />

sympathy. In today’s climate of fear and mistrust, there’s<br />

a low tolerance for religious groups that are out of the
