OCTAVIA HILL (Harzeal)
Floribunda Rose. 1995. 3ft.
The clear medium pink flowers of this variety contain an
astonishing 75 petals.
They have a Damask fragrance and come in small sprays of
neatly spaced blooms.
The blooms are about 3ins (8cm) in diameter and have a
double quartered form and have an old fashioned look.
The foliage is a semi glossy dark green on a medium sized
compact bush.
A good healthy rose which is fairly disease resistant.
It is a fairly vigorous plant, but requires the removal of
spent blooms to initiate the next bloom cycle and promote
new growth.
Makes a good cottage garden rose.
The flowers are ideal for cutting for their perfume, and they
also last some time in water.
Highly recommended.
Named after an English social reformer 1838-1912 who helped to found the National Trust.
Courtral Silver Medal 1995
The Hague Certificate Of Merit 1998
OLD PORT (Mackati)
Floribunda. 1991. 2ft-3ft.
Large blooms with a wonderful blend of red and mauve rather
than purple, with a shape that is akin to the old cabbage roses.
Medium green foliage.
Needs a little care and attention to keep it at its best but is well
worth the effort.
Plant in partial shade to help sustain the beautiful colour.
Very Fragrant.
OLYMPIC SPIRIT (Peaprince)
Floribunda. 1988. 2ft-3ft.
FLORIBUNDA ROSES
An attractive rose with clusters of orange blend blooms which are quite a striking colour.
Flowers in flushes throughout the summer and into autumn and the first frosts.
Produces plenty of blooms so the spent blooms should be removed regularly to promote repeat flowering
and to keep the plant tidy.
Nice healthy foliage and good disease resistance.
The stems are not very long being a floribunda, but it does
make an attractive cut flower.
Fruity fragrance.
Not very well known at the moment, but that should all change
soon with the next Olympic Games coming to London in 2012.
