36. Divisi<strong>on</strong> Artillery, Rifle Divisi<strong>on</strong><br />

Units of the divisi<strong>on</strong> artillery, rifle divisi<strong>on</strong> (fig. 13, and table<br />

XIII, ch. 15, sec. III) area.<br />

Headquarters and Service Battery. This battery c<strong>on</strong>sists of<br />

an operati<strong>on</strong>s plato<strong>on</strong>; a communicati<strong>on</strong>s plato<strong>on</strong> with wire and<br />

radio secti<strong>on</strong>s; and headquarters maintenance and transportati<strong>on</strong><br />

secti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

b. Artillery Survey Battery. This battery c<strong>on</strong>sists of a headquarters<br />

plato<strong>on</strong> and survey, sound-ranging, flash-ranging, and<br />

communicati<strong>on</strong>s plato<strong>on</strong>s. The battery prepares initial survey<br />

data for fire adjustment and also assists in locating the sources of<br />

enemy artillery fires by sound and flash-ranging methods.<br />

c. Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment. This regiment is comm<strong>on</strong> to<br />

the rifle, tank, and mechanized divisi<strong>on</strong>s. Units are a headquarters<br />

and service unit; two 80-mm antiaircraft artillery gun batteries<br />

each with a headquarters secti<strong>on</strong>, a fire directi<strong>on</strong> secti<strong>on</strong><br />

and two firing secti<strong>on</strong>s; and four antiaircraft automatic weap<strong>on</strong>s<br />

batteries each with a headquarters secti<strong>on</strong>, a fire directi<strong>on</strong> secti<strong>on</strong><br />

and two firing secti<strong>on</strong>s (fig. 14, table XIV, ch. 15, sec. III).<br />

firing batteries; <strong>on</strong>e 80-mm gun battali<strong>on</strong>, with a headquarters<br />

and service battery and three firing batteries; and <strong>on</strong>e 150-mm<br />

mortar battali<strong>on</strong> with a headquarters and service battery and<br />
