<strong>The</strong> oculars and appliances [i.e. “accessories”] vanish, no one<br />
knows how. Finally the instrument, after living in an open<br />
shed for months is condemned as worthless at the Council<br />
table. I myself would certainly accepted that verdict<br />
but for the fact that while Sir: Adam was still with us he once<br />
asked me to his house and showed me some objects with his<br />
telescope; I therefore felt that what the instrument had done<br />
before it might be made to do again (provided it had not been<br />
ruined meanwhile). <strong>The</strong> Sir Adam Willson [sic] telescope is<br />
well worth a couple <strong>of</strong> new oculars and such other fittings as<br />
will put it into shape for use. <strong>The</strong>se things given it will be a<br />
very valuable instrument in the <strong>Society</strong>’s observatory.<br />

captured this high-resolution image <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Apennine Mountains to win the “Canadian<br />
Telescopes Prize for Lunar Imaging” at<br />
the RASC’s General Assembly in Winnipeg<br />
in July. Mike used a Lumenera Infinity 2-2<br />
camera on an 18-inch Starmaster Dob. <strong>The</strong><br />
image is composed <strong>of</strong> the best 115 frames<br />
from a total <strong>of</strong> 1145.<br />
