BROW BEATING
Shavata Singh, queen of the eyebrows and guru to
the likes of Elle McPherson and Natalie Imbruglia,
introduces us to the latest technique to hit the nation -
eyebrow threading!
InSight
When choosing the perfect
eyebrow colouring, Shavata
suggests opting for two shades
darker than your hair colour for
optimum results.
Eye
on the facts
Eyebrow threading
n Threading is an increasingly popular,
natural and precision way to remove
unwanted hair from the brows
n Thread is twisted and rolled along the
surface of the skin, entwining the
hairs and removing them at the root
n It’s considered less painful than other
shaping methods as it targets
individual hairs with minimum
skin irritation
What is eye brow
threading?
It’s a hair removal technique
using a cotton thread that is
manipulated in a way that pulls
hair out from the root.
depending on the technician
this can be done in a very
precise, clean manner.
Where did it originate
from?
Eyebrow threading originated
in India, hundreds of years ago.
Is it better than other
methods?
It’s pure preference. The
results are the same as waxing
and tweezing in that hairs
are pulled from root. It just
depends what you prefer, that’s
why we offer all services at the
Brow Studio.
Can it be done at home?
unfortunately not, unless you
know how to manipulate the
thread in the correct way!
Eyebrow masterclass – the
do’s and don’t of shaping
n Always pluck in natural light, and only
little by little – this will help to ensure
that you don’t go overboard
n Never pluck above the brow - this is
your natural shape and tweezing this
area will mean it never grows back
the same
n Use a hand mirror and a big mirror
when shaping eyebrows – the hand
mirror for close up plucking, and the
large one to check that your brows
are even
