Music Participation Lab
The Lab class invites all 7th
and 8th grade students to a
musical experience involving
learning to play the guitar
and electronic piano.
They study the great composers,
watch a Broadway
musical and produce their
own 15 minute Radio Show.
They discuss different aspects
of musical careers
and watch videos about musical
instrument making.
There is no required musical
background needed,
just a curious mind and the
willingness to learn new

Semester Electives list.
Auditions for Choir will be held
from March 26 to 29, after school
at Rocky Run Middle. There is no
need to schedule a particular
time. Please come to the Choral
room anytime from 3 to 5:30
Monday through Thursday, sing
for the director and you are
welcome to leave as soon as you
finish. It’s fun and easy. Please
have an audition sheet with you
or fill one out when you arrive.
Your placement will be
announced through the mail. Talk
to your choral teacher if you have

Show/Swing Choir
All Choirs are year long
electives that meet
every day as an accredited
course.
Rocky Run also offers a
semester music class –
Music Participation
Lab.
Men’s Chorus
The Men’s Chorus is a new offering
at Rocky Run. It is open to
all 7th and 8th grade boys, with
an audition. No musical background
is necessary.

Advanced Women’s Choir
This choir is open to all 7th and
8th grade girls and requires an
audition with the director for
placement. The Women sing
two, three and sometimes four
part music. They are a close knit
group who truly love to sing
challenging music.

Advanced Mixed Choir
This group is open to all boys
and girls in 7th and 8th grade
with an audition. They are an
advanced singing group who
learn three and four part music.

Show/Swing Choir
Show Choir uses choreography
with singing. Demanding,
yet incredibly fun, it is open to
7th and 8th graders who are
accepted into Advanced Mixed
Choir first. A choreography
audition on one night in April
will determine who is placed in
Show Choir. Placement into
any choir will be done by mail.
