Sir Barnaby Brien being his son, and do hereby convey and pass over in<br />

fee simple and in due form of law, unto <strong>the</strong> right honourable Sir Dermod<br />

O Malun, knight, Lo. Baron of Gleanomalun, Chief and supreme of our<br />

sept, and to his heirs and assigns for ever, all our interest, titles, uses<br />

and rights in <strong>the</strong> fourteen quarters of land here under expressed viz. four<br />

quarters of Gleanomalun with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants <strong>the</strong> quarter of Fenlemor<br />

with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter of Balegouhy with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants, <strong>the</strong><br />

two quarters of Clonfada with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter of Balecorney<br />

with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter of Lacavoar and Baleguery with <strong>the</strong><br />

appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter of Gortvage with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter<br />

of Gortnacoely with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter of Gortein[?] with <strong>the</strong><br />

appurtenants, <strong>the</strong> quarter of Garanboy, with <strong>the</strong> appurtenants as also our<br />

interest and rights in all o<strong>the</strong>r lands, th<strong>at</strong> are wrongfully detained <strong>from</strong> us,<br />

and our sept, by any person or persons, all which lands, tenements and<br />

hereditaments lieth in <strong>the</strong> parish of Killalowe in <strong>the</strong> said county of Clare,<br />

betwixt <strong>the</strong> lands of Tuogonoly on <strong>the</strong> north, and <strong>the</strong> lands of [blank] on <strong>the</strong><br />

south, and <strong>the</strong> lands of Kilalowe on <strong>the</strong> east, to <strong>the</strong> lands of Gleanagaleagh<br />

on <strong>the</strong> west, and we <strong>the</strong> said coheirs do oblige our person, persons goods,<br />

and heirs to <strong>the</strong> performance of all <strong>the</strong> premises hereof to <strong>the</strong> said Lo.<br />

Baron, his heirs, and assigns for ever in <strong>the</strong> sum of two thousands pounds<br />

sterling current money of, and in, England, and have to this indentured<br />

deed, set our hands, and seals d<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>at</strong> [blank] day of [blank] 1631 et regni<br />

Regis nostri Caroli Anglie Francie, Scotie et Hiberniae anno etthas.<br />

Being present <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> signing, sealing and delivery hereof, we whose<br />

names do ensue.<br />

1–4). Not all of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Thomond</strong> Irish m<strong>at</strong>erial is listed in <strong>the</strong> c<strong>at</strong>alogue as a large portion of <strong>the</strong><br />

m<strong>at</strong>erial is still listed only in <strong>the</strong> early nineteenth century manuscript c<strong>at</strong>alogue <strong>at</strong> <strong>Petworth</strong>.<br />

The m<strong>at</strong>erial <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> published c<strong>at</strong>alogues, and <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> manuscript c<strong>at</strong>alogue, may only<br />

be consulted <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> West Sussex Record Office <strong>at</strong> Chichester.<br />
