The Bulldog and the
Battlecruiser
HMSNEWZEALAND.COM, ONLINE FROM FRI 12 APR
In 1913 the battlecruiser HMS New Zealand took a 10-month round-theworld
cruise including two months visiting New Zealand ports. In 2013
Auckland War Museum and Torpedo Bay Navy Museum bring this historic
event alive online in “real-time.”
Join the online travel log on any day to find out where the ship was and
what the day was like. Meet Pelorus Jack the bulldog, ship’s mascot.
Supported by collection objects, images, newspaper accounts, anecdotes
and “breakout” stories we’ll daily build the story of the life and experiences
of the battlecruiser and those who sailed her, and place it all in the wider
context of the times.
Programme in partnership with the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum.
