Sibelius Groovy Music is a series of three programs which
make teaching music to primary children easy and fun.
Supporting teachers with plenty of clear and well-written
materials, they are designed to satisfy Ireland standards for
music and ICT.
Groovy Shapes (Key Stage 1), teaches children about basic
music concepts. Shapes are used to represent elements of
music such as rhythms, melodies and chords.
Groovy Jungle (Key Stage 2), introduces children to notes
and notation, ostinato, major and minor, and simple musical
terms. More complex musical textures are explored, and
additional instruments allow them to experiment further
with their own compositions.
Groovy City (Key Stage 3), delves deeper into music notation and provides more complex listening tasks. Children are also
introduced to question and answer phrases and the blues scale, so that they can begin to build up more sophisticated
compositions.

which are an
essential part of any musical training.
Building blocks of musical phrases are represented by engaging
graphics. Click on the graphic to listen to the musical phrase then
drag into a track. Build your own tune by placing phrases into the
track then listen to your tune.

The Play section is a whole class activity that allows students to
play percussion along with the software. There is a wide variety of
rhythms to learn and the teacher uses the O-Instructor to run the
lesson.
