Shopaholic Confesses for Every Girl Who Ever Bought Confidence
For most girls shopping is more than a
necessity, it is a passion. The very activity
of shopping is an experience
and can open doors
to a new world. In the
comedy, Confessions of a
Shopaholic, Rebecca
Bloomwood is the epitome
of a fashionista. Since she
was a little girl, shopping
was an entrance into an exciting
place where she
could feel fabulous. As she
grew older, her love for
shopping grew and she
compares it to the way a
girl feels when she locks
eyes with a cute guy.
Depending on shopping
to give her that thrill
almost destroys her. It was
hard for her to pass by a
store without looking in the
windows and spotting
some new accessory she
had to have. After awhile,
she fell into debt and had
a hard time paying her expenses,
because of her
shopping addiction. Although
she could barely
pay the rent, she still felt
the urge to shop, despite
the advice of her friends
and co-workers. For
Rebecca, the thrill was the
feeling she got from the
clothes, a certain confidence
that she needed to
get through her day.
As women, it is easy
to understand the need to
look cute and feel good
about yourself. Especially
in the society we live in today,
where celebrities are
so influential and many of us aspire to look
like them. Living in a big city like Rebecca
does, it is easy to get caught up in the hype
and lose sight of what is important in life.
She had to work hard to figure out why she
depended on shopping and understand that
other things are more permanent and can

This movie was inspiring because
it showed how fashion can define our lives
or break them if we let it. Confessions epitomized
how we feel when we purchase the
latest bag or high heel. It makes us feel sexy
and powerful, which are great feelings as
long as we remember there’s more to confidence
than looking the
part. Fashion is a form of
expression and gives others
an insight into our personalities.
Rebecca stood out
and was always dressed
to the tens. She was fearless
and mixed different
trends together, such as
brightly colored pencil
skirts, furry shawls, and
plaid trench coats. Always
wanting to have the
latest and hottest items
gave her a weakness for
sales. Seeing the fashion
in this movie was entertaining
and fun, because
it was a bit out there but
was well tailored to her
personality. Her wardrobe
consisted of
spring’s hottest trends
such as bright colors,
plaid and reptile prints. It
is always inspiring to see
someone wearing the
trends and having the
courage to experiment.
This movie is highly
recommendable to any
fashion lover because I’m
sure we can all relate to
Rebecca in some way.
Girls love to shop and find
something that nobody
else has to add to their
already full wardrobe and
lives. The idea behind this
movie, that shopping will
always be an enjoyable
part of any girl’s life just
as long as she doesn’t let
it consume her, reminds us it’s great to feel
good about the way we look, but confidence
comes from within. As Rebecca learned she
only felt complete after feeling comfortable
with herself and recognizing that there is
more to life than shopping, like love.
