editorial goes <strong>on</strong> to eay that the Tundra Times wilt be the rnedium<br />
to air the views of the Inupiat paitot ""ga"i"ati<strong>on</strong> ancl of Dena N<strong>in</strong>a<br />
Henash, a parallel organizati<strong>on</strong> of Athabaskan Indians of the <strong>in</strong>terior<br />
of Alaska organized at Tanana laet June, It will aleo provide newa<br />
<strong>on</strong> matters of <strong>in</strong>terest to all native peoples of Alaska. <strong>The</strong> Tundra<br />
Times will not support any political party, and <strong>in</strong>tends to b"<strong>in</strong>clep*"dent<br />
and to be n<strong>on</strong>-partiean <strong>in</strong> giv<strong>in</strong>g the viewg of <strong>in</strong>dividual<br />
political candidates, If it favours any candidate editorially it witl<br />

As well as the editorial, the firet issue <strong>in</strong>cludes a report<br />

the Sec<strong>on</strong>d Inupiat Paitot C<strong>on</strong>ference, to be held at Kotzebue <strong>on</strong><br />
October 18 to 20, an appreciati<strong>on</strong> of Miss LaVerne Madigan,<br />
Executive Director of the Associati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> American Indian Affairs,<br />
who died recently, a translati<strong>on</strong> of two Eskimo s<strong>on</strong>gs, an account<br />
of the use of tape-recorders by Eekimos, and many other wellwritten<br />
articles. To Canadian readers a note by Guy Okakok <strong>on</strong><br />
hie meet<strong>in</strong>gs with Angulalik at Herschel Island and Carnbridge Bay<br />
<strong>in</strong> the late twenties will be of particular <strong>in</strong>terest.<br />
