My mind is free from passions, is released from worldly<br />

attachments, has long been under training, is under thorough<br />

control; <strong>the</strong>re is no sin whatever in me. Rain on now, O<br />

cloud! if you will. Thus said Bhagava.<br />

7.<br />

I am maintained by my own wealth, <strong>and</strong> my children are<br />

living with me free from disease; I do not hear <strong>of</strong> any sin<br />

attributed to <strong>the</strong>m. Rain on now, O cloud! if you will.<br />

Thus said <strong>the</strong> cowherd, Dhaniya.<br />

8.<br />

I am not a servant <strong>of</strong> any; independent, I move in all<br />

worlds; <strong>the</strong>re is no advantage in serving o<strong>the</strong>rs. Rain on<br />

now, O cloud! if you will. Thus said Bhagava.<br />

9.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are to me young cows, calves, cows big with young,<br />

<strong>and</strong> young cows full <strong>of</strong> vigor, <strong>and</strong> bulls, lords <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> herd.<br />

Rain on now, O cloud! if you will. Thus said <strong>the</strong> cowherd,<br />

Dhaniya.<br />

10.<br />

To me <strong>the</strong>re are no young cows, no calves, no cows big with<br />

young, no young cows full <strong>of</strong> vigor, no bulls, lords <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

herd. Rain on now, O cloud! if you will. Thus said<br />

Bhagava.<br />

11.<br />

<strong>The</strong> stakes are driven in, <strong>the</strong>y can not be shaken; <strong>the</strong>re are<br />

chains made <strong>of</strong> grass, new <strong>and</strong> twisted, which likewise <strong>the</strong><br />

calves can not break. Rain on now, O cloud! if you will.<br />

Thus said <strong>the</strong> cowherd, Dhaniya.<br />

Like an ox which has broken its bindings, like an elephant
