16 CARBONIFEROUS ROOKS,<br />

massive limestones, corresponding to <strong>the</strong> middle limestones <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Flint</strong>shire (p. 20), <strong>and</strong> dipping at 10° to 20° to <strong>the</strong> east-nor<strong>the</strong>ast,<br />

while <strong>the</strong> lowest beds appear in a quarry 500 yards northnorth-west<br />

<strong>of</strong> Galchog. <strong>The</strong> last-named consist <strong>of</strong> s<strong>and</strong>y impure<br />

limestones with b<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> argillaceous limestone <strong>of</strong> a porcellanous<br />

texture, <strong>and</strong> rest immediately upon <strong>the</strong> Basement Beds. <strong>The</strong>y<br />

resemble <strong>the</strong> impure Lower limestones <strong>of</strong> <strong>Flint</strong>shire.<br />
