Every licensed concern is responsible for <strong>the</strong> acts <strong>of</strong> employees (see<br />
definition <strong>of</strong> “Employee” Section 557.5(d) in <strong>the</strong> marketing, sale, distribution, and<br />
servicing <strong>of</strong> any <strong>portable</strong> <strong>fire</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong>.<br />

560.4. Vehicle Marking.<br />
Every concern licensed under this chapter shall display <strong>the</strong> business name,<br />
concern license number, and business phone number on each side <strong>of</strong> each<br />
service vehicle. All letters and numerals shall be affixed <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> vehicle, be in<br />
contrasting colors from <strong>the</strong> background, clearly visible and at least 1 1/2 inches<br />
high and 3/4 inch wide.<br />
EXCEPTION:<br />
(1) Display is not required during <strong>the</strong> first 90 days after <strong>the</strong> first<br />
time vehicle registration fees have been paid.<br />
(2) Display is not required for companies possessing a Type L<br />
(Limited) License as specified in Section 595.5.<br />

560.5. Recall <strong>of</strong> Extinguishers.<br />
When a manufacturer deems it necessary <strong>to</strong> recall an <strong>extinguisher</strong> model<br />
or series, <strong>the</strong> manufacturer shall notify <strong>the</strong> State Fire Marshal. Such notification<br />
shall include <strong>the</strong> reasons for <strong>the</strong> recall and procedures for replacement and <strong>the</strong><br />
disposition <strong>of</strong> recalled <strong>extinguisher</strong>s.<br />

Article 4. Classification and Ratings <strong>of</strong> Portable Fire Extinguishers<br />
561. Classification.<br />
(a) Portable <strong>fire</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong>s are classified for use on certain classes <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>fire</strong> and rated for relative extinguishing effectiveness at a temperature <strong>of</strong> plus<br />
70 o F (21.1 o C) by testing labora<strong>to</strong>ries. This is based upon classification <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>fire</strong> pursuant <strong>to</strong> Section 561.1 and <strong>the</strong> <strong>fire</strong> extinguishment potentials as<br />
determined by <strong>fire</strong> tests.<br />

561.1. Classification and Rating System.<br />
(a) The classification and rating system described in <strong>the</strong>se <strong>regulations</strong> is<br />
that <strong>of</strong> ANSI/UL Standard 711, and is based on extinguishing preplanned <strong>fire</strong>s <strong>of</strong><br />
