(b) At <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> maintenance, <strong>the</strong> tamper seal <strong>of</strong> rechargeable <strong>fire</strong><br />
<strong>extinguisher</strong>s shall be removed by operating <strong>the</strong> pull pin or locking device. After<br />
<strong>the</strong> applicable maintenance procedures are completed, a new tamper seal shall<br />
be installed.<br />

575.13. Anti-freeze Solution.<br />
Anti-freeze solution for anti-freeze <strong>extinguisher</strong>s shall be put through a<br />
fine strainer prior <strong>to</strong> placing it in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong> so as <strong>to</strong> prevent any<br />
possibility <strong>of</strong> undissolved salts impairing <strong>the</strong> normal function <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong>.<br />

575.14. Nitrogen Cylinder Operated Wheeled Extinguishers.<br />
Pressure regula<strong>to</strong>rs and nitrogen cylinders on wheeled <strong>fire</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong>s<br />
shall be maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.<br />

575.15. Conductivity Test.<br />
(a) An annual conductivity test shall be conducted on all carbon dioxide<br />
hose assemblies. Hose assemblies found <strong>to</strong> be nonconductive shall be<br />
replaced.<br />
(b) Carbon dioxide hose assemblies that pass a conductivity test shall<br />
have <strong>the</strong> test information recorded on a suitable metallic label or equally durable<br />
material that has a minimum size <strong>of</strong> ½ in. x 3 in. (1.3 cm x 7.6 cm). The label<br />
shall be affixed <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> hose by means <strong>of</strong> a heatless process. The label shall<br />
include <strong>the</strong> following information:<br />
(1) Month and year <strong>the</strong> test was performed, indicated by perforation, such<br />
as is done by a hand punch.<br />
(2) Initials and EE# <strong>of</strong> person performing <strong>the</strong> test.<br />

575.16. Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers.<br />
Internal maintenance <strong>of</strong> wet chemical <strong>fire</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong>s shall be<br />
performed every 5 years at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> hydrostatic test in accordance with <strong>the</strong><br />
manufacturer’s recommendations.<br />

576.1. Maintenance Recordkeeping.<br />
Upon completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> maintenance procedures prescribed by Section<br />
575.3, each <strong>portable</strong> <strong>fire</strong> <strong>extinguisher</strong> shall be fitted with an annual maintenance<br />
tag as prescribed in Article 9.<br />
