The Henry Ford Carlo Bergonzi
The Carlo Bergonzi exhibit in the fall of 2010 brought to
Cremona over half of the world’s known examples by this
great contemporary of Stradivari and Guarneri. Among
those selected was a beautifully preserved Bergonzi
(c.1738-42) from the Henry Ford Museum collection.
Requiring delicate and exacting work to be restored back
to concert quality condition, Ashot Vartanian, head of the
Shar Restoration & Repair Shop, was chosen for his expert
skill and decades of experience. This particular Bergonzi was
then featured in recital during the exhibit, showcasing the
dynamic and magical tonal characteristics which will now
continue to flourish in the centuries to come.
