Prelude Bass
Available in 3/4 (full), 1/2, and 1/4
size. The perfect bass for that serious
student in your household - excellent
performance, easy playability, and a
bright sounding tone - at a value price!
This bass is made of fine laminates
which have been carefully dried and
aged. This process ensures durability
which is critical in a large instrument.
A beautiful veneer is then applied over
the surface of the wood. Unlike many
lesser basses, the Prelude has a sturdy
ebony fingerboard, an adjustable bridge,
and is set-up with Helicore strings. Made
in Romania and set-up in Ann Arbor.
Extension
Our Deluxe Gated C-Extension for double
bass is unique: It does not require extensive
modification and mutilation of the scroll
or neck! Precision-made in the US of heavy
brass and ebony, this model is currently in
use by several principal bassists of major
orchestras as well as professional jazz players.
Best of all, the cost is hundreds less than
other professional-level extensions. Detailed
instructions allow any violin shop to easily
install the unit modifying only the nut.
DBX $730
Our Franz Hoffmann Concert bass is the result of more than a year’s worth of
development. We set out to create a sturdy bass able to withstand daily use by
the young orchestra player that also has a pleasing, full sound and a professional
design. The ribs and back are made from seasoned laminates for strength with
a beautifully figured top from solid, aged spruce for maximum resonance. The
gamba shape allows for easy reach into the high positions, and hand-applied
varnish allows the full spectrum of sound to emerge. Carefully set up and adjusted
in Ann Arbor, each Franz Hoffmann Concert bass has been fitted with Helicore
strings and an adjustable height bridge. 3/4 size.
