The Department of Telecommunication have arranged for training facility in its<br />

regional and district telecom-training-centres for sending messages in Hindi on<br />

bilingual electronic telex. A fee of Rs. 2000/- for 4 week training programme has been<br />

fixed. Central Government offices may provide training to their telex operators for<br />

sending messages in Hindi by making direct contact with anyone of these centres as<br />

convenient to them. In other training centres such training programme can be arranged<br />

on demand.<br />

- Demand for bilingual electronic telex machine can be registered with M/s Hindustan<br />

Teleprinters Ltd., G.S.T. Road, Guindy, Chennai-600032, who has been<br />

manufacturing these machines. Hindustan Teleprinters Ltd can also manage the<br />

annual maintenance of equipments purchased from them through its regional offices<br />

located at Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, and Bangalore.<br />

COMPUTERS<br />

Computer systems should be purchased in bilingual form.<br />

Any computer will be considered bilingual only when it has the capability for data<br />

entry in Hindi along with English, it could be displayed on the monitor in either script<br />

and the output could be produced from the computer either in Hindi or in English at<br />

will.<br />

If for some special reason any relaxation of the above instructions is required, a<br />

proposal should be sent to the Department of Official Language after consultation<br />

with the Ministry of Information Technology by the concerned Department. The<br />

Ministry of Information Technology shall have to certify that the equipment cannot be<br />

made in bilingual form and it cannot be substituted by any other available bilingual<br />

equipment.<br />

- These instructions are also equally applicable to computers taken on lease or<br />

imported.<br />
