of N.S.W. The supply mains extend in one direction a<br />
distance of 28 miles through villages and farms lighted by<br />
electricity, to the Municipality of Manilla, 11 miles in another<br />
direction, lighting more villages and farms, and is now being<br />
extended to Werris Creek in the south, a distance of about<br />
30 miles. The price of electricity for lighting is 6d. per<br />
unit and for domestic power lid. per unit, while for factories<br />
it is on a sliding scale, to as low as nine-tenths of one<br />
penny per unit.<br />
The town has an excellent water supply and water is<br />
sold at :/- per thousand gallons. It has also a modern<br />
sewerage system.<br />
Amongst the town industries are a co-operative butter<br />
factory, freezing and ice works, flour mill, soap works,<br />
broom factory, saw mills, brick works and cordial factories.<br />
<strong>Tamworth</strong> is recognised as the stock market north of<br />
^Maitland and holds regular weekly sales of stock at the<br />
