distance of 28 miles through villages and farms lighted by
electricity, to the Municipality of Manilla, 11 miles in another
direction, lighting more villages and farms, and is now being
extended to Werris Creek in the south, a distance of about
30 miles. The price of electricity for lighting is 6d. per
unit and for domestic power lid. per unit, while for factories
it is on a sliding scale, to as low as nine-tenths of one
penny per unit.
The town has an excellent water supply and water is
sold at :/- per thousand gallons. It has also a modern
sewerage system.
Amongst the town industries are a co-operative butter
factory, freezing and ice works, flour mill, soap works,
broom factory, saw mills, brick works and cordial factories.
