Beautifully situated on the banks of the McDonald River,
at the foot of the iMoombi Range, is the township of Bendemeer,
with a population of 900.
The main Northern Road passes through this township,
and as excellent camping grounds for motorists are available
on the river bank, Bendemeer is naturally coming to the fore
as a tourist resort. The climate is ideal.
Good accommodation is obtainable at the hotel, and visitors
may delight in swimming, shooting and trout fishing.
Tennis courts are also open for the use of visitors.
From Tamworth the distance by road is 26 miles, from
Uralla 30 miles, Walcha 32 miles, and Armidale 44 miles.
WALCHA ROAD.
Walcha Road, on the main Northern Railway Line, 32,
miles from Sydney, is the railway station at which passenger^
alight for the town of Walcha, 12 miles away, to whicl
they are conveyed by motor cars.

WALCHA.
Walcha, the centre of a rich grazing district, is situated
on the .Apsley River.
From Tamworth (via Bendemeer) the distance by road is
58 miles, while Uralla, on the north, is 26 miles away, and
Armidale 40 miles.
When travelling by rail, visitors leave the train at Walcha
Road, which is 321 miles from Sydney, and are then conveyed
by motor cars over goods roads to V\'alcha, a distance
of 12 miles. The rail fares from Sydney are: rst class
£2/14/7 and 2nd class £1/17/2. From Newcastle the distance
is 217 miles, the fares being £2/1/11 for ist class and £1/8/3
for 2nd class. The car fare from Walcha is 5/-.
A car service has been inaugurated between Walcha, Uralla
and Armidale.
