HUNTBOARD
Having relinquished their steeds and hounds to the care of keepers, thirsty huntsmen would stand tall at the huntboard and, libations in hand, recount the shots of
the day. A handsome, early 18th century huntboard in the style of George II boasts a breakfront top over doors and drawers fielded in oak burl. The right faux
drawer panel conceals a storage compartment.
SAVOY SIDEBOARD
The word Savoy conjures images of superb Edwardian and Art Deco design living in unexpected but spectacular balance. Bill Sofield designed this sideboard in
pursuit of that same balance. From a striking center-matched Mozambique top to diamond matched door panels with an Ebony center panel, the Savoy speaks the
rectilinear language of Art Deco. Highly figured wood with rare depth or chatoyance. Vertical gilt pulls complete the concentric effect of the doors. Plinth base.
The Savoy is a true sideboard - with the scale to balance a substantial dining table and the presence to anchor a great room. For some the Savoy might be a viable
credenza behind the Normandie Desk.
Suitable as either a sideboard, with drawer storage and a silver liner, or a dry bar complete with a glass backsplash and a mirrored surface for pouring. The shallow
MODERNE CREDENZA
When form follows function, the result can range from dignified to dramatic. Thomas Pheasant designed the Moderne Credenza for his own home. The top offers a
simple but dramatic quartered mahogany field. An architectural stepped cove molding casts shadows over recessed doors. Flat-cut mahogany, with the cathedrals
running vertically, softly ripples with the light. Discrete key-handle pulls preserve an orderly façade.
With two interior drawers and a silver liner, the Moderne was conceived as a substantial sideboard with adjustable shelves for plate and platter storage. Some
might also use it to anchor art, a statement mirror, or even a wall-mounted television. At the same time, the strong lines of the molding make it a versatile
complement to the Moderne Bed.
NINA CONSOLE
Nina makes quite an entrance. This is an example of how restraint doesn't work against luxury, but it does raise the stakes for design. Thomas Pheasant conceived
the Nina as a signature form. It is shallow, open, and light. The graphics of the symmetric but intersecting shelves are the design. The outer mahogany frame
almost disappears-allowing an inner Bronze border further punctuated with classical rivets. Tapered Bronze legs, dressed with an anklet, provide the height of what
some will find an exotic vision of refinement.
The Nina is ideally a low etagere. It is all about display, whether capturing the different shapes in a collection or inviting accidental order to a bookshelf, and it
floats easily with a cabinet quality finish on all sides. At the same time, the depth suggests that it would make a great console or sofa table-wherever the long side can
be seen. Here, mahogany shelves tend to integrate a collection.
COLUMN SIDEBOARD
Even the very old can be very new again. Thomas Pheasant views classical architecture-like the column-as something beyond period or style. This sideboard was
adapted from some of his client work. The top is flat cut mahogany over two frieze drawers, each with a hidden finger pull, and one with a silver liner. The
pedestals are, however, the focus of the table. Simple, coved and faceted columns simply taper. Two horizontal sections offer visual relief, and optional brass bands,
each with decorative riveting, offer a more accessorized look.
This sideboard was designed to complement the Column series dining tables. Large and architectural, the design easily migrates to a great room in lieu of a dining
room per se. In homes short on architecture, some will consider using it to visually anchor large art.
The Reata Drinks Server responds to Laura Kirar¿s instinct as a trained sculptor working in the context of Modern furniture. While the lines of the table have a
