MACAO GARDEN SEAT 

Cast from resin, the Macao Garden Seat was used extensively in Duquette's interior and outdoor installations. Duquette loved the versatility of the design, which 

easily adapted from seating to a table wherever needed. He painted them in brilliant coral or stark white for just a pop of color. The drum-shaped form has a solid 

top above a scalloped apron supported by four vertical members that carry to the lower base. A scrolled latticework design decorates the open sides. The stool is raised 

on small bun feet. Keeping true to the original, Baker chose Coral or Pearl Lacquer to complete the piece. Circa 1960.

MARSAN CHAIR 

The original Marsan Chair was first unveiled as part of Duquette's unprecedented one-man exhibition at the Pavilion de Marsan in the Louvre, Paris. The 

designer later selected the chair for some of his interiors. Inspired by 18th century French design, the chair sits low to the floor, giving it a sculptural quality. The 

generously sized back and seat add to its commanding silhouette. The front and back are tightly upholstered and surrounded by a wood frame trimmed in nail 

head. A slightly crested seat cushion is similarly detailed in nail head trim and rests on an exposed wood base that terminates to cabriole legs. The chair is offered in 

Pearl and Coral Lacquer with pink glaze or Silver Gilt. Circa 1951.

ORGANIC BAROQUE CHAIR 

Tony Duquette first conceived the Organic Baroque Chair while serving in the Army during World War II. Duquette finally realized the design in the 1960s, 

creating the entire piece from wrought iron. Baker recreates the steel frame by first heating the steel strands and forming it into its sensuous, organic form. The 

chair's frame opens up with back and arms curved out, randomly joined by connecting steel members. The seat is constructed in a sunburst pattern - forming a 

natural seat - and is supported by curved legs joined by steel cross members before terminating into a straight steel feet. The chair is appointed with a single seat 

cushion and is offered in Verdigris Paint or Pearl Paint. Circa 1965.

PALMER CHAIR 

Originally designed for the Charles and Palmer Ducommun Bel Air residence, the Palmer Chair has been expertly reproduced by Baker. It has generous back and 

seat cushions, both detailed in a plush button tufting and secured to the chair frame by small ties. The chair's back is an intricately woven steel design. The frame 

and legs are made from single bars of steel, heated and bent to form its intricate curved base and unique, joined half-moon legs, which are met by a single stretcher. 

The chair is offered in a stunning Gold Leaf layered over red - the finish gently rubbed to bring through the red undertones - or in deep, mottled Green Verdigris 

with tufted Burnt Orange upholstery. Circa 1965.

Thomas Pheasant conceived the Atelier series as a more lightly scaled and tightly upholstered look. The frame takes a more prominent role, and the upholstered 

backs are recessed. The legs are flared in the neoclassic tradition. Where the upholstery meets the wood frame, the cushion actually extends over the top to create a 

cap of sorts. That makes the construction part of the visual appeal of the item-like a complex joint Baker might use on a large cabinet. As a design element, each item 

also has a distinctive ribbed Bronze finger pull. 

The neoclassical look of the Atelier Chair, really a slipper chair for the living or bedroom, changes with the fabric. The statement has more to do with refinement

Thomas Pheasant conceived this chair as the ideal, high fashion complement to the Diana Dressing Table. The form is a barrel back of sorts, lightened and 

tightened to the limits of wood as a material, with an emphasis on a very low, very modern back. The result is dramatic, sculptural, and barely there. The low slung 

arms go under the table, and the refinement of the legs is unprecedented. A signature ribbed Bronze pull also appears on the back.

This occasional chair is something of a Trojan Horse. While nominally Greek inspired, the overall effect - only revealing itself over time - is largely modern. Tightly
