Population: 335,227<br />
Area: 1,276 square miles<br />

Originally a Coahuiltecan Indian area, this county was created<br />
in 1848 <strong>and</strong> named after Captain Ewen Cameron of the Mier<br />
Expedition. Cameron County has a semitropical climate <strong>and</strong><br />
flat l<strong>and</strong>scape. The economy is based on agribusiness,<br />
tourism, seafood processing, shipping, manufacturing, <strong>and</strong><br />
government services.<br />

Area: 784 square miles<br />

This county was established in 1911 <strong>and</strong> named for <strong>Texas</strong> legislator<br />
John G. Willacy. Willacy County has flat coastal prairie<br />
