MEASURE 11 MAINTAINING FARM AND ENVIRONMENTAL RECORDS Under this Measure, farmers will record management information and work done throughout each year of their REPS plan. They will use the prescribed REPS record sheets. Requirements for the Maintenance of Farm and Environmental Records include: ● Keep your REPS Records sheets up to date on a monthly basis. ● Sign and date them every year. ● Retain them for the full period of your REPS contract as the Department may wish to examine them. ● Keep original invoices and other documents that are relevant to your REPS agreement. ● Keep records of purchases of concentrates and other feeds brought onto the farm. ● Keep your Bovine Herd Register, Animal Remedies Record and Flock register (Sheep) and supporting documentation. ● Record the import or export particulars of all chemical and organic fertilisers brought on to the farm. ● Keep details of all lime spread on the farm. ● Keep records of winter housing dates and livestock housed. ● Keep records of any other environmentally sensitive work over and above the scheme requirements carried out. FARMER’S HANDBOOK FOR REPS 4 32 NATURA 2000, NATURAL HERITAGE AREAS AND COMMONAGE SITES (FORMERLY MEASURE A) These are sites with important ecological value. They must be maintained and conserved. Active farming on these sites at environmentally sustainable levels is necessary for their conservation. These sites include: ● Natural Heritage Areas (NHAs) designated by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. ● Farmland based Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) designated under Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the Conservation of Natural Habitats. ● Farmland based Special Protection Areas (SPAs) designated under Council Directive 79/409/EEC on the protection of Wild Birds. ● Commonage/Grazing Rights. ● Areas designated under the Water Framework Directive. Your planner will set out the management requirements according to the relevant commonage framework plan, NPWS Site Management Plan or agreed farming prescription. Your plan will include an environmental report prepared by an environmentalist. The specific site requirements may include: ● Adjustment to stock numbers or grazing regime. ● Remedial works e.g. fencing or rubbish removal. ● Restricted use of pesticides and fertilisers. ● Any additional requirements set out in your REPS Plan. You must get approval from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if you intend to do any of the following: ● Increase stock levels. ● Introduce stock to areas that were not grazed before. ● Change your stock type during the course of the plan.
