Saving by means of single premium
policies has diminished considerably as
a result of new tax legislation, after an
expected boom at the end of 2000. As
most people appear to have a pension
gap, the possibilities of tax deduction for
consumers are greater than generally
expected. Extra tax benefits may also be
reaped via employers within the context
of Employee Benefits. Intermediaries and
the insurance specialists should inform
consumers of these opportunities. Delta
Lloyd has developed automated modules
to be used by intermediaries.
Recommendations made by the Traas
Committee have an impact for insurers
in reporting results. The indirect return
method as a primary reporting basis may
be prohibited; realised return on investments
must then annually be defined in
the Profit & Loss account directly.
E-business The use of the Internet and
Intranet has been extended. Electronic
processing has many advantages such as
speed, control, expenses, fewer errors
and results in a better service to the
customers. The Internet is expected soon
to be the medium for communication
between insurers and intermediaries.
For communication with the end
consumer the use of the Internet will be
defined by the degree of acceptance of
the Internet and the number of personal
computers at home.
The group name was changed to Delta Lloyd nv
on 1 January 2002.
The Delta Lloyd commercial Parade won a Silver
Lion at the Cannes International Advertising
Festival. The commercial was launched in May
and succeeded successful commercials like
Figure Skating and Bumper Car.
pggm, the pension fund for health, mental and
social care, and Delta Lloyd decided end
December 2001 to set up a joint venture. This
organisation will offer pggm members financial
services and products under the label Careon.
The 1.5 million members in the pggm pension
fund will be offered a wide range of financial
products and services: life assurance, general
insurance, care insurance, investment products
and banking products, including mortgages.
The joint venture will support employers in
offering complete Employee Benefit products
like flexible terms of employment with gap year
savings schemes, absence management and
rehabilitation products.
The joint venture will be selling such products
under a new brand name. This means for pggm
extra service to its customers, for Delta Lloyd
it is a further extension of its multi-channel
approach.
An important change in the top management
of the company took place in 2001.
Mr. J.E. Jansen, chairman of the Executive Board,
retired on 1 April. His farewell was celebrated
with a sensational party for employees and
invited guests in the Scheepvaartmuseum in
Amsterdam. Mr. N.W. Hoek succeeded Mr. Jansen
as chairman of the Board at the same date.
