not so large as 0.4 - 0.5 log unit for V-th and 0.5 - 0.6 log unit for P-th. In group B, V-th shows the same pattern as that of group A. On the other hand, P-th was somewhat low in the center as compared with group A, however, no difference was seen at each hour. At 15’, the difference in the center increased remarkably as 1.8 - 2.1 log unit at each hour. By the V-th and P-th ratio, no difference was seen in the center and at 15’ as 0.5 - 0.6 log unit and 0.6 - 0.7 log unit in group A. In group B, therefore, while no special difference was seen in the center as 0.8 - 0.9 log unit, it became extremely larger at 15’ as 2.2 - 2.4 log unit. No differences were seen either in groups A and B at each hour. Table 3 shows the comparison with both P-th and V-th before and after the water drinking test of both groups A and B. V-th was invariable either in groups A and B. P-th was invariable in group A but it showed increase as 0.2 - 0.3 log unit in group B. DISCUSSION lhere have been several reports on early visual field changes in glaucoma, but they have all concerned subjective perimetry of the kinetic and static visual fields. There have been no reports of objective perimetry. The author performed pupillographic perimetry in subjects in which no abnormalities in subjective perimetry and found the so-called Bjerrum scotoma. As was men- tioned in the previous report, the P-th and V-th ratio in the Bjerrum area was much higher in the patients than in the normal controls with ‘no relation to the level of the intraocular pressure. This should be a very effective method for screening and the early discovery of glaucoma. In the case of diurnal variations, the variation in the P-th and V-th ratio was a maximum of 0.2 log unit and this result reconfirmed that pupillographic perimetry has excellent reproducibility. After the water drinking test, there were no changes in group A and only a 0.3 log unit increase in group B. The maximum variation was 0.5 log unit as shown in Fig. 4. These results indicate that water drinking tests have no meaning in pupillographic perimetry and pupillographic perimetry itself is of diagnostic value in the detection of glaucoma. CONCLUSIONS 1) Pupillographic perimetry is effective method for glaucoma diagnosis since it can detect early visual field changes in glaucoma which can not be detected in subjective perimetry. 2) Pupillographic perimetry shows no diurnal variations and reproducibility is excellent. 3) The water drinking test has no significance in pupillographic perimetry. 270
