Bedroom door after bedroom door. They snake round a corner. LAUGHTER seeps from one of them. Elizabeth knocks. ELIZABETH Margaret? Margaret? Steeling herself she opens the door. Peers inside - INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS A bunch of BRAYING TOFFS, drunk. One guzzles punch, from the bowl. Elizabeth feels their eyes upon her body. She SLAMS the door shut. INT. UPSTAIRS CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS Hearing a girl’s LAUGHTER, Elizabeth hurries to the next room. Throws open the door. Sees - Margaret? ELIZABETH INT. BEDROOM 2 - CONTINUOUS A GIRL emerges from the bed covers. Moments later a second GIRL emerges. INT. CORRIDOR -- THE RITZ - CONTINUOUS Red-faced, Elizabeth reels backwards. Just as -- * -- Margaret and her GANG emerge down the corridor. They * charge down the stairway. Elizabeth sprints after them. Margaret! ELIZABETH Margaret doesn’t hear. MALE DANCER C’mon. Let your hair down. ELIZABETH Please. Let me go. Struggling to escape, she looks up. Margaret’s GANG disappear out of the main doors. Elizabeth breaks free of the conga. She sprints the length of the foyer. Slaloms through a line of GUESTS- CRASHES out of the main doors, and onto - EXT. RITZ -- PICCADILLY - CONTINUOUS Elizabeth scans the mayhem. Traffic. People. Chaos. But no Margaret. Where is she? Where is she? There -- Across the street, Margaret - following her gang - leaps onto the running board of a No. 9 bus. Horrified, Elizabeth stares. The No. 9, picking up speed, heads down Piccadilly, past the Royal Academy. Another bus - a No. 14 - rumbles into view. Heading the same way as the No. 9. She glances over her shoulder at the Ritz, sees -- -- a group of the OLD FOSSILS congregating in the lobby. Turns back -- -- the No. 14 pulls through the melee of celebrating PARTY PEOPLE, into the bus stop. Elizabeth bites her lip, and - - goes for it. She dashes into the traffic. A car SCREECHES to a halt. Stops an inch in front of her. Sorry. ELIZABETH 27. She makes it to other side. The No. 14 is about to set off. Elizabeth leaps on board.
