-- The world is still. People unbelieving.
-- A GIRL, 20, her lipstick smeared. Old before her time.
-- A weary SOLDIER. His face is young. His hair is grey.
-- A CHILD, 11, holds his dog. It wears a big tricolor bow.
-- An OLDER COUPLE, 70s, faces creased, hold hands.
-- Big Ben sounds: Twelve.
-- The faces split into sheer, unalloyed JOY.
-- Pandemonium. As people dance and hug.
-- Elizabeth studies the faces around her.
As the unashamed displays of emotion sink in, she smiles to
herself.
Then turns to Jack.
EXT. THE MALL -- BUCKINGHAM PALACE - MOMENTS LATER
Amidst the euphoria, Jack moves in to embrace Mary. Elizabeth
steps in front of him.
ELIZABETH
You said you’d help me find my
sister.
JACK
We looked. We didn’t find her.
He side-steps Elizabeth. Reaches out again for Mary. Moves in
to kiss her. Her sister Jane has already found a bloke of her
own.
ELIZABETH
She could be in trouble.
She wriggles in between Jack and Mary.
JACK
Tonight? I don’t think so. We all
love each other, tonight.
Jack places his hands on her shoulders and attempts to shift
her to one side.
JACK
Excuse me.
