Mr. Montagu exhibited a series <strong>of</strong> coin-weights, chiefly for<br />

<strong>the</strong> gold coins <strong>of</strong> James I, representing every gold denomination<br />

<strong>of</strong> that reign, some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m bearing <strong>the</strong> initials <strong>of</strong> Briot.<br />

Mr. A. Prevost exhibited a specimen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> five-franc piece<br />

issued last year in Switzerl<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> promptly withdrawn from<br />

circulation because its appearance was not considered satisfac-<br />

tory by <strong>the</strong> public.<br />

Dr. 0. Codrington exhibited a silver coin <strong>of</strong> Uljaitu, Mongul<br />

ruler <strong>of</strong> Persia A.D. 13041316.<br />

Mr. G. M. Arnold communicated a paper on <strong>the</strong> Roman sta-<br />

tion <strong>of</strong> Vagniacae, toge<strong>the</strong>r with a short account, by Mr. C. R.<br />

Smith, <strong>of</strong> Roman coins discovered during <strong>the</strong> last half century<br />

in <strong>the</strong> fields adjoining Springhead. See Vol. ix, p. 329.<br />

Mr. B. V. Head read a paper on A<strong>the</strong>nian <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r coins.<br />
