Fowler failed to procure <strong>the</strong> whole <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r fragments.<br />

Still, enough remains to have enabled Mr. Ready, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

British Museum, to restore <strong>the</strong> vessel sufficiently<br />

to show<br />

its form <strong>and</strong> character, <strong>and</strong> I am indebted to Mr. Charles<br />

H. Read, F.S.A., for <strong>the</strong> sketch from which <strong>the</strong> subjoined<br />

woodcut has been executed.<br />

HICM<br />

JUG FROM NEVILLB'S CROSS.<br />

It is a jug which, however, has lost its h<strong>and</strong>le <strong>and</strong><br />

upper part.<br />

It is narrower at <strong>the</strong> neck than below, <strong>and</strong><br />

was originally<br />

about 7 inches high, <strong>and</strong> is 3| inches in<br />

diameter. It is turned on a wheel, <strong>and</strong> formed <strong>of</strong> thick<br />

well-burnt red ware, <strong>the</strong> surface covered with a yellowish<br />

green glaze.<br />

It is <strong>of</strong> interest as showing <strong>the</strong> character<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> domestic pottery in ordinary use during <strong>the</strong> latter<br />

half <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fourteenth century.<br />

<strong>The</strong> coins submitted to me for examination consisted <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> following :<br />
