Session 9: Roundtable: Labour Relations<br />
(By invitation only)<br />
This session is for senior transit management who are<br />
involved in labour relations and negotiations. This<br />
year our guest speakers from OC Transpo will present<br />
on the topic “Getting Along after the Strike” and will<br />
discuss the steps taken by OC Transpo and the City of<br />
Ottawa to create a smooth transition back to work<br />
following a lengthy separation, a long wait for the<br />
arbitrator’s decision and bargaining that happened in<br />
the media as well as at the negotiating table. Following<br />
the presentation and discussion of strategies that<br />
worked and those that didn’t, there will be a roundtable<br />
discussion facilitated by Sue Connor, Chair of<br />
the Human Resources Committee.<br />

Session 10: Sustainability through Transportation<br />
Demand Management<br />
Transportation Demand Management is an increasingly<br />
important tool that transit systems and communities<br />
alike can use to achieve their sustainability goals.<br />

speak on initiatives that they have taken locally.<br />

Session 11: New Bus Propulsion Technology<br />
Bus propulsion technology continues to evolve as<br />
technology matures and new ones appear. Representatives<br />
from the Société de transport de Montréal<br />
(STM) will speak on their in-depth study on hybrid<br />
buses, followed by a presentation on the recently<br />
completed <strong>CUTA</strong> report on hybrid technology.<br />
Finally, BC Transit will share their experience on the<br />
development and implementation of the first<br />
Hydrogen Fuel Cell bus demonstration fleet, to be<br />
showcased at the 2010 Olympics.<br />
