Session 2: Vision 2040 – A Blueprint for Action<br />

With the official unveiling of Transit Vision 2040 and<br />

unanimous endorsement by the <strong>CUTA</strong> Board of<br />

Directors earlier this year, this session explores<br />

perspectives on the Vision from stakeholders outside<br />

the transit industry who were directly involved or<br />

consulted in its development. Planners, urbanists,<br />

land developers, municipal and youth leaders discuss<br />

their future vision and debate where trends will lead<br />

and what we must do together to maximize the<br />

benefits of public transit for the next generation.<br />

Session 3: Building and Managing<br />

Transit Infrastructure<br />

Taking on a large transit project involves a plan to build,<br />

operate and manage the assets. Lessons can be learned<br />

from projects such as the forthcoming Union Station<br />

railway track upgrades, as well as from the ongoing LRT<br />

extension in Edmonton. The Toronto Transit Commission<br />

(TTC) will present challenges from the recent<br />

purchase of 204 Streetcar Light Rail Vehicles.<br />
