PARISH COUNCIL Tuesday 24 July 2012 Present: Mr T Gossage, Mrs T Sismey, Mrs D Barrett, Mrs M Eade, Miss R Johns, Mrs L Arbour, Mr M Denney Mr M Storey, Borough Councillor Squadron Leader Neild RAF Lakenheath One member of the public. Apologies: Mrs P Raburn, Mr T Fothergill, and Mr A Lawrence Borough Councillor. This was a busy month for plans and documents relating to the running of the Parish Council. Squadron Leader Neild reported little change in activity from the base, he agreed to look into a problem that had arisen recently with backed up traffic on the Hockwold Road (B1112) at the entrance to Feltwell Base. It was confirmed that the replacement tree for Cross Hill is now on order. Any further donations would be welcome as these could be used to purchase a new seat to replace the broken one. Concerns were raised about the state of the footpaths in the village, as the weeds, having been sprayed, are now standing dead and unsightly. With the schools on holiday, the weather excelling itself and the gardens looking at their best, the Council would like to wish everyone an enjoyable summer. The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 11 September 2012 at 7.30 in the Methodist Chapel, South Street, Hockwold. Steve Oliver Margaret Allsop HATS News HATS would like to thank Kim at Hythe Court Spa in Methwold for the excellent barbecue on 11th August. The sun shone brightly and the children had a fantastic time in the pool. Our AGM will be held at 7.15pm on Thursday 27th September at the Methodist Chapel. All are very welcome to attend, but you must be a fully paid up member if you wish to vote. Membership for 2012-2013 is now due and is £10 for adults and £5 for Juniors. Payment should be forwarded to Tracey Askew (19, Main Street, Hockwold) and cheques should be made payable to ‘Hockwold Amateur Theatrical Society’. Many members of the current committee are willing to stand again, but if you are keen to serve on the committee - or know someone else who is - (and they are willing to be nominated!) it would be very helpful if you could advise a member of the present committee in advance of the AGM. The Race Night, a joint effort between HATS and MENCAP, is arranged for 13th October, and admission will be just £3 per ticket. It looks like being great fun with prize ‘bubbly’ flowing freely. There will be a special bottle of bubbly for the best dressed filly, so, come on, you lovely ladies - it’s an excellent excuse to step out in your poshest of posh frocks!
