The cases <strong>of</strong> Head injury were suspected <strong>of</strong> temporal<br />

bone fracture with presence <strong>of</strong> one or more signs <strong>of</strong><br />

the triad <strong>of</strong>: Cerebrospinal fluid otorrhoea, Facial nerve<br />

Palsy & severe bleeding from ear along with<br />

additionally conducting hearing loss.<br />

The fracture <strong>of</strong> pterous part <strong>of</strong> temporal bone was<br />

demonstrated in 27 (19.2%) cases out <strong>of</strong> 140 cases <strong>of</strong><br />

The over all incidence <strong>of</strong> Roentogenographic<br />

demonstration <strong>of</strong> fracture <strong>of</strong> the petrous bone 79% i.e.<br />

in 21 cases out <strong>of</strong> 27 cases on Plain X-ray. And in CT<br />

Scan 88% in 24 cases out <strong>of</strong><br />

acute head trauma. All the 27 cases were presented<br />

with feature <strong>of</strong> triad, indicative <strong>of</strong> fracture pterous part<br />

<strong>of</strong> temporal bone. CSF Otorrhea-14 (51.1%), 7th Nerve<br />

Palsy-9(33.3%), Severe middle ear bleeding-18<br />

(66.6%), Conductive hearing loss-5 (18.5%).<br />
