Where is it located?<br />

Innsbruck is the capital of the federal state of Tyrol in<br />

western <strong>Austria</strong> and lies nesyled in the Inn Valley<br />

between high mountains.<br />

How to get here<br />

Hit the road<br />

Take the motorway A 12 and take the exit "Innsbruck<br />

Mitte – Zentrum". In the roundabout take the exit “Vill,<br />

Igls" and follow the main road in Igls 3.7 km into the<br />

centre. Turn left into the Hilbestrasse and follow this<br />

street. After 200 m you’ll see the Bon Alpina Hotel<br />

(Hilberstraße Nr. 8) and the entrance to the hotel’s<br />

own car park on the right hand side.<br />

You can y into Innsbruck from any major European<br />

city as it is very well connected by air.<br />

Special Attraction - Innsbruck is ideally situated<br />

for day tours to the Bavarian Castle in Germnay,<br />

Venice, Bollywood lm shoot locations in Tirol, Vienna<br />

and Salzburg<br />

Golden Roof - Innbruck’s most characteristic<br />

landmark, The Golden Roof, was built by Archduke<br />

Friedrich IV in the early 15th century as the residence<br />

of the Tyrolean sovereigns. The Golden Roof actually<br />

is the three-story balcony on the central plaza of the<br />

Old Town. The late Gothic oriels are capped with 2,738<br />

gold-plated copper tiles.<br />

The Imperial Palace - It was erected by Archduke<br />

Siegmund the Rich in late Gothic style around 1460. It<br />

was rebuilt in the Baroque style (but with rococo<br />

detailing) between 1754 and 1773 on orders of<br />

Empress Maria Theresa. The Palace, anked by a set<br />

of domed towers, is a ne example of Baroque<br />

secular architecture. Don´t miss a visit to the<br />

adjoining "Sacher" Café of Innsbruck.<br />

The Hofkirche (Imperial Church) - Located in<br />

Innsbruck, its memorial for Emperor Maximilian I is<br />

the most prominent tomb memorial for an emperor in<br />

Europe. The completion of the memorial in its present<br />

form took more than 80 years.<br />

Ambras Palace - One of Innsbruck’s most<br />

noteworthy attractions, the Castle was built by<br />

Archduke Ferdinand II of <strong>Austria</strong> (1529-1595), Count of<br />

Tyrol, in the 16th century. It´s divided into a lower and<br />

an upper castle. The lower castle was planned and<br />

constructed by the Archduke as a museum for his<br />

various collections, including arms and armor, art,<br />

and books, all of which can be seen today. The upper<br />

part of the palace houses the Habsburg´s Portrait<br />

Gallery.<br />

New Bergisel Ski Jump - Towering high above<br />

Innsbruck on the wooded Bergisel Hill, the brand-new<br />

Bergisel Ski Jump stands 47 meters tall and provides<br />

spectacular views. The new facilities, including<br />

gondola, elevator, panoramic café, and vantage spot<br />

on the jumping platform are open to visitors<br />

Cathedral St. James - The huge two-towered<br />

front of the Parish Cathedral St. James dominates the<br />

Cathedral square at the northwestern side of the<br />

Royal Court. One of its chief treasures is a precious<br />

Madonna and Child on the main altar, painted by<br />

German master Lucas Cranach the Elder.<br />

Bell Museum, Bell Foundry Grassmayr - All<br />

over the world – in nearly 100 countries – bells from<br />

Grassmayr Bell Foundry in Tyrol can be heard tolling.<br />

The Grassmayr family has been casting bells for the<br />

whole world for 14 generations. It has 400 years of<br />

experience, history and tradition to build upon. In<br />

addition to casting new bells, Grassmayr Bell Foundry<br />

specialises in restoring historical bells.

The name Innsbruck comes from the German word ‘Brucke’, meaning bridge.<br />

The name therefore means ‘bridge over the Inn’.
