HOBBIES
Glee Club
The Glee Club or Hobby Group, as it is more often called, is headed
by Mr. Langstaff. Init are girls who like to sing in parts, in a small group,
and for the fun of just singing. They sing on special occasions such as
the Christmas play and special assemblies. Mr. Langstaff's guidance combined
with his experience as a singer makes this hobby a great opportunity
for these Upper School girls.
Fix-It
Under the leadership of Mrs. Price the little band of fixiteers takes
on the job of repairing tattered classroom chairs, painting bulletin boards,
dipping candles, and other such work. They are a very useful group because
they will do any odd job that needs to be done. They help to make the
school look its very best.
Scouts
Here at Potomac, scouting, led by Miss Seth, is a major activity
throughout the school. The third and fourth graders are Brownies and
the fifth and sixth graders are Girl Scouts. In the Upper School girls keep
up scouting only if they are really interested.
The younger girls learn the laws, the promise, and how to be good
scouts. They play games, make things, and go on small hikes. The older
scouts do many useful things both for the school and the community.
They help with the younger scouts, and fill Christmas stockings. They also
have great fun on cook-outs, overnights, and mountain trips.
