“And We have sent you (O Muhammad) not but as a mercy for <strong>the</strong> 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns<br />

and all that exists).” {107} (Surat Al-Anbia’).<br />

Allah also says:<br />

( & % $ # " ! )<br />

“And We have sent you (O Muhammad) only as a bearer <strong>of</strong> glad tidings and a warner.” {56}<br />

(Surat Al-Furqan).<br />

9. Saying, “Peace and blessings <strong>of</strong> Allah be upon <strong>the</strong> Prophet Mohammad”:<br />

Allah says:<br />

“Allâh sends His Salât (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy, etc.) on <strong>the</strong> Prophet (Muham-<br />

mad) and so do His angels (ask Allâh <strong>to</strong> bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your<br />

Salât on (ask Allâh <strong>to</strong> bless) him (Muhammad), and (you should) greet (salute) him with <strong>the</strong><br />

Islâmic way <strong>of</strong> greeting (salutation i.e. AsSalâmu 'Alaikum).” {56} (Surat Al-Ahzab).<br />

<strong>The</strong> Prophet Mohammad (peace & blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever blesses me and<br />

says: ‘Peace & blessings be upon me’ one time, Allah will bless him ten times.” (Sahih<br />

Muslim).<br />

And he said: “Whoever says: ‘Peace be upon me’, Allah will give me my soul back in order<br />

<strong>to</strong> reply on him.” (narrated by Abu Dawod).<br />

It was narrated by Aby Talha that <strong>the</strong> Prophet <strong>of</strong> Allah said: “Gabriel came <strong>to</strong> me and said,<br />

“O Muhammad, does it please you that your Lord, <strong>the</strong> Mighty <strong>the</strong> Glorified, says, ‘If any-<br />

one <strong>of</strong> your nation praises and venerates you once, I will praise him ten times. And if any<br />

<strong>of</strong> your nation sends peace upon you once, I will send peace upon him ten times.” So I<br />

said, “Yes.” (narrated by Ahmed and Al-Nesa’ai).<br />

It is decreed in our prayer <strong>to</strong> say: ‘Peace & blessings be upon <strong>the</strong> Prophet Mohammad’. It<br />

was narrated that Aby Mas’ud Al-Badry said: Beshr bin Sa’d said: ‘O Messenger <strong>of</strong> God, God<br />

has commanded us <strong>to</strong> bless you. How should we do that?’ <strong>The</strong> Prophet remained silent
