1938 Reunion Year
Ruth Carter Breitweiser, Laceyville, Pa.,
says her health took a bad turn in
November, and she has practically lost the
ability to walk.Things are a bit better now,
but she feels a lot of pain when she walks.
She thanks God each day that she can still
manage to get around and stay in her home.
1943 Reunion Year
Betty Lovell Miles, Englewood, Fla.,
enjoyed a 12-day trip to Spain and Portugal
with daughter-in-law Mary Ellen from
Columbia, Md. She and husband Dick are
enjoying their new home in North
Carolina, and spent three weeks in Maryland
and at their cottage on Canandaigua Lake.
Betty Wilton Smith, Mendoino, Calif., says
this year’s celebrations included the arrival of
her first grandchild, her 80th birthday with a
Mediterranean cruise, and her final academic
processional wearing the green and gold
stole at College of the Redwoods. She is
currently recovering from cervical neck surgery
to be followed with lumbar surgery.
Her main goal is to attend the Class of
1943’s reunion July 23-25. She hopes to see
as many “43ers” as possible.
1948 Reunion Year
1949
Madolin Littlewood Wells, Missoula,
Mont., and Bill enjoyed a month in Alaska
this past September, traveling in their pickup
and RV trailer.They spend three months
each winter in their RV in Nevada on Lake
Mead.
1950
Lucyna Bartusiak Perkins,
Hammondsport, N.Y., and her husband
spent two weeks in New York City following
the 911 tragedy. They served with the
Red Cross DSHR system in mass care and
health services at Ground Zero and Pier 94.
They received several awards and recognition
in our community for their volunteer
services.
1952
Patricia White Gardner, Livingston,Texas,
thoroughly enjoyed her 50th Keuka class
reunion. She has plans to head to Plainfield,
Ind., to see Harriet Varney and Mark
Hays.Then it’s on to San Antonio,Texas, to
meet with high school friends. A great year
for renewing friendships!
C LASS N OTES
1953 Reunion Year
Lois Holley Gilmour,Walnut Creek, Calif., and
her husband had a terrific reunion with classmate
Marie Kope Parks in Anacordes,Wash.
Helen Johnston Harwood, Rockville, Md., has
five grandchildren; the youngest turned one-yearold
Oct. 4, 2002.
Ruth Palmiter Spencer, Penn Yan, N.Y., and
her husband attended the wonderful “Celebrate
Keuka” event Aug. 3, along with visiting friend
Ruth Cramer ’54. She spent a glorious week
on Prince Edward Island with granddaughter
Sarah at an Elderhostel focused mainly on Lucy
Maud Montgomery and Anne of Green Gables.
Jackie McDermott Sutherland,Walnut Creek,
Calif., celebrated 45 years of marriage Aug. 4. She
has become a frequent flyer, traveling from
California to New York this past year. Her mother
was hospitalized and passed away in February
at the age of 97. Jackie had two family weddings
and is planning a trip to see their new grandson,
Blake William, born in August to Jill, Phil, and
Scot Wisniewski ’00 left his hometown
of Auburn two weeks after graduation,
hell bent on taking a bite out of
the Big Apple.
Most of the time, it
works the other way for
aspiring actor/singers:
New York City chews
them up and spits them
out.
But not in
Wisniewski’s case.
His off-Broadway,
one-man show Scot
Wisniewski:The Beginning
debuted at Don’t Tell
Mama, a cabaret house, completed a
sold-out, two-month run last year and
will return for another engagement in
March.The show chronicles his life
experiences since moving to New York

1955 1958 Reunion Year
1960
Hope Hannant Stewart, Petaluma, Calif.,
is busy with volunteer work including a
membership on the board of directors of the
local affiliate of Rebuilding Together with
Christmas. She prepares meals once a week
at the local soup kitchen and volunteers for
their Unitarian Church.
1961
Julia White Greene, Syracuse, N.Y., sold
her last house in October and is spending
her time with her four grandchildren, ages
14, 4, 2 and 1.
Florence “DeDee” Schoenherr Connor,
Lexington, Mass., is a real estate broker with
Coldwell Banker. She says it would be great
to network with other Keuka real estate
