<strong>Macpi</strong> User Report in India<br />

Recently, <strong>JSN</strong> visited Mohan Clothing Co. Pvt. Ltd.<br />

based in Haryana, Gurgaon (owner: Mr. Nitin<br />

Mohan)(www.blackberrys.com). <strong>JSN</strong> was allowed to<br />

enter this company’s factory and could receive explanation<br />

about the factory from Mr. Arun Dhawan, head<br />

of manufacturing. Mohan Clothing Co. manufactures<br />

Blackberrys brand items and sells them in India. This<br />

Mr. Nitin Mohan, Owner of Mohan Clothing Co.<br />

company was established in 1991 and began business<br />

with manufacture of suits and jackets. Presently, this<br />

company manufactures casual and formal trousers besides<br />

high quality suits and jackets, and entrusts manufacture<br />

of shirts, knitwear, accessories, etc. to subcontractors,<br />

thus supplying total fashion for high quality<br />

men’s wear. This company has a workforce of about<br />

1,000 employees including 700 machine operators.<br />

This company had sales of US$ 35 million in 2009<br />

and expects US$ 50 million this year. At present, two<br />

factories are run and the third factory will be inaugurated<br />

in near future. The factory recently <strong>JSN</strong> visited<br />

is a suits & jackets factory. This company sells its<br />

items at 58 own shops set up throughout India and aims<br />

to reach 100 shops one year later. In addition to the<br />

factory, <strong>JSN</strong> visited this company’s shop in Gurgaon.<br />

Company owner Mr. Nitin Mohan said, “Our company<br />

attaches importance to productivity and innovation<br />

and has worked out a business strategy of always<br />

moving ahead the competitors. We want to continue<br />

growth of our business while leading the industry.<br />

Furthermore, our company continues manufacture of<br />

high quality items by adoption of new technologies,<br />

which will involve strengthening the field of fabric<br />

designing, for example. For retaining, we will form<br />

good partnerships and thereby establish our sales network<br />

throughout India.”<br />

It was 10 years ago that this company installed <strong>Macpi</strong><br />

products for finishing process. First of all, a collar &<br />

lapel finishing press was installed. This machine is<br />

still working. Then, they installed <strong>Macpi</strong>’s complete<br />

pressing machine line for jackets and trousers. “Our


company is quite satisfied with <strong>Macpi</strong>’s after-sales service<br />

and support. <strong>Macpi</strong> products have high quality,<br />

so they can be used with no worry. Their pressing<br />

machines ensure an exquisite finish.” said Mr. Arun<br />

Dhawan. Presently, this company allocates 2 lines for<br />

jackets production and is scheduled to add one more<br />

line in the future. He continued, “Apparel consumption<br />

market in India is expanding. Percentage of this<br />

expansion is said to be 25% every year. In India, people<br />

in an age bracket of 0 to 35 occupy 65% of the total<br />

population. We will make our business successful by<br />

moving along with this expanding trend. And besides,<br />

we will increase our market share.”<br />

is becoming harder? In the manufacturing division,<br />

“quality” and “productivity” are very important. Therefore,<br />

our company is making maximum efforts to improve<br />

quality and productivity through use of a consultant.<br />
