Westlake’s Requiem is dedicated to the memory of his son, who was tragically
killed in a road-rage incident. It is based on an ancient Italien ode to the Sun,
O Sol, almo immortal very approvable musicand is a very liberal interpretation
of the traditional Requiem Mass.

This production of Zaide with a cast including Fritz Wunderlich was recorded
in Stuttgart in 1956. This work was forgotten by Mozart and the vocal score
was not published until 1840. It is sung in German.
