lavender-blue flowers, yellow eye.<br />

Viola ‘Ardross Gem’<br />

Beautiful blue & gold flowers, 2.5cm. across.<br />

Very compact foliage which forms neat evergreen<br />

mats, 30cm. across on an established<br />

plant.<br />

Viola ‘Aspasia’ AGM<br />

Lovely elongated flowers 2cm. across, top<br />

petals creamy white, lower petals deep yellow.<br />

Very floriferous, scented plant, forming<br />

Bronzy-yellow flowers with a copper centre,<br />

4cm. across. A very unusual old variety.<br />

Scented creamy-white flowers with a yellow<br />

Bright lemon-yellow scented flowers from early<br />

Viola ‘Mauve Radiance’<br />

Deep lavender-mauve flowers 4cm. across<br />

plant. Very useful where a simple pure colour<br />

Very similar to ‘Maggie Mott’ & probably a<br />

seedling. The upper petals pale silvery-blue,<br />

lower petals cream edged with pale blue. Flowers<br />

Lovely pure white flowers, 3cm. across, with<br />

yellow eye. Possessing an exceptionally strong<br />

perfume. Seems happy growing in quite deep<br />

shade as long as it has enough moisture.<br />

Pale pink flower, 3cm. across with a yellow eye.<br />

Originated at Sissinghurst Castle.<br />

Viola ‘Wasp’<br />

(EM) V. ‘Jackanapes’ seedling and even more<br />

enchanting. A similar combination of yellow<br />

& mahogany brown but with added mahogany<br />

blotches on the three lower petals.<br />

Viola ‘Woodlands Cream’<br />

Large circular scented flowers, rich cream when<br />

first opening, becoming striped with pale blue.<br />

The combination of cream & striped flowers<br />

together is lovely. Vigorous old variety.<br />

VIOLETTA<br />

Violetta ‘Buttercup’<br />

Deep yellow, sweetly-scented flowers, 2.5cm.<br />

across, produced very freely over neat compact<br />

foliage.<br />

Violetta ‘Cinders’<br />

(EM) A lovely little plant with scented bicoloured<br />

flowers, buttercup yellow centre<br />

surrounded with soft purple. Neat clumps,<br />

20cm. across.<br />

Violetta ‘Little David’ AGM<br />

Creamy-white slightly frilled flowers, 3cm.<br />

across. Vigorous & long lived plant, strongly<br />

scented.<br />

Violetta ‘Raven’<br />

(EM) Velvety, very deep purple (near black)<br />

flowers with striking yellow eye. Very vigorous<br />

low spreading mats.<br />

Violetta ‘Rebecca’<br />

Exquisite, frilled, creamy-white viola edged<br />

& heavily flecked with dark lavender-blue.<br />

Strongly scented.<br />

VIOLA CORNUTA<br />

The following cornuta species are very hardy<br />

perennial plants. They will form large<br />

clumps which may easily be increased by<br />

division. Ideal for rockeries or at the front<br />

of herbaceous borders.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Alba’ AGM<br />

A very vigorous white form. Excellent ground<br />

cover, even in shade. Seeds itself in the most<br />

inhospitable places in the garden.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Belmont Blue’<br />

Lovely very pale sky-blue flowers, 2.5cm.<br />

across, all summer. Very vigorous & makes<br />

good ground cover.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Blue Butterfly’<br />

(EM) Dainty pale blue flowers, enhanced by<br />

a bright orange eye. Has a vigorous compact<br />

habit, a lovely new cultivar.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Boughton Blue’<br />

Nearly identical to V. c. ‘Belmont Blue’, with<br />

slightly fuller flower. Excellent vigorous<br />

habit.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Brimstone’<br />

(EM) Soft subtle colouring of pale cream<br />

delicately overlaid & veined with pale slateyblue.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Butterpat’<br />

(EM) A new V. cornuta which appeared in<br />

our nursery garden, a seedling from V. c. ‘Pat<br />

Kavanagh’. Typical elongated cornuta shaped<br />

flowers, rich yellow with a few delicate dark<br />

rays, paler reverse and a violet spur. Strongly<br />

scented.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Cleopatra’<br />

(EM) Superb new cultivar making a large perennial<br />

clump to 50cm. across. Scented, pale<br />

cream flowers with contrasting deep violet<br />

rays and spur.<br />

Viola cornuta ‘Clouded Yellow’<br />

(EM) Beautiful combination of pale creamy yellow<br />

overlaid with pale slatey-blue streaks and<br />

veins. A lovely and most unusual cultivar.
