Letter from the President Dear Marian Catholic High School Community, There’s strength to be found in the meaning of the word “annual.” Annual occurrences invite us into more than one-time participation; they engage us in cyclical experiences that take place repeatedly, moving us forward into time and space with all the potential that momentum has to offer. It is with this sense of expectation for the future, that we present to you the Marian Catholic High School Annual Report of investment for 2009-2010. Marian Catholic High School is an educational institution of which you are an extremely vital participant. This report demonstrates the generosity of our investors and the stewardship of these gifts. As investors and stakeholders, you provide an ever-expanding horizon for our students as they seek an academic and spiritual education grounded in ethical leadership and social responsibility. We think of the word annual as related to recurring events, but we define it also as completing a life cycle during one season of growth. For most students, the growing season of a high school education is four years, and how quickly those years slip by in the flurry of activity that defines a Marian Catholic education. The annual celebration of graduation is a recurring reminder that while the growing season of a high school student is very brief, it is rich in producing seed for the future. We are filled with awe and wonder as we witness the transformation of so many children into young men and women during their season of growth at Marian Catholic High School. With sadness we recognize that not every student is granted the full measure of the expected four years. Death came too quickly for Michael DeBonfioli, Paige Kuersten, and Alex Staniec to complete their growing season at Marian Catholic. We mourn their loss and keep them forever in prayer. We are grateful to all those who give support and guidance to our students, serving as investors, parents, teachers, administrators, coaches, and mentors. You are faithful partners in the Dominican Mission of “Teaching Scholars with a Soul” and we thank you for helping us to move forward into time and space with all the potential that momentum has to offer.
